"Don't only be pissed at me. The guys let her out at the gate."

It's another issue I'll have to deal with, but I can't think right now. I bark, "Get her away from her da, now!"

He offers, "I'll try again. But I think she just wanted to drive her new car and see her da."

"I don't give a shit what ya think she wanted to do! The O'Learys blew up our docks and tunnel. What part about that do ya not understand?"

"Sorry, Tynan."

"I don't want your sorry! My wife should not be out driving her new car. And she especially shouldn't be anywhere near her da!"

"Easy. He seems harmless. He's just a drunk."

"Don't 'easy' me!"

"Well, in fairness, ya didn't tell me she couldn't go anywhere," he claims.

I yell, "I didn't think I had to, ya fucking idiot!"

Silence fills the line.

I add, "I'm sending reinforcements. And ya better get her away from him. I'm having him picked up. Keep him there."

Brogan asserts, "Aye. Ya got my word she'll be fine."

"She's not as long as he's around," I bark and hang up.

My family stares at me.

I declare, "I need men over at the Red Feather, right now. Who's the closest?"

Brody shakes his head. "No one. Everyone's down here."

My fear and anger intensify. I exclaim, "What do ya mean everyone's down here?"

He crosses his arms, and his eyes narrow. "Just what I said. We lost more than half our men tonight."

More panic hits me. I start running and slide into a car with keys in it. I take off, heading toward the Red Feather, calling Maeve as I race down the road.

She doesn't answer and sends me to voicemail.

"Goddammit, pick up!" I scream, hitting the phone against the steering wheel while maneuvering through town, angrier than I've been in a long time.

The pub's in a bad part of Belfast. It's the farthest location from the dock as possible.

I told her to stay home.

How could she do this?

I'm going to kill Malachy when I see him, I vow for the millionth time.

I drive faster, and a siren fills the air.

"Goddammit," I snarl.

I debate outrunning him, but then he's going to follow me to the pub. That'll result in more problems. So I pull over and roll my window down.

An officer approaches me, asserting, "You're going pretty fast there."
