I try again, "Da, please. I'm begging ya. Help me escape. You'll have more riches than you've ever desired in your life. I promise ya."

He stares at me and sarcastically laughs. "Everything ya have is because of me."

I gape at him, then laugh hysterically. "Because of you? Because of you, I had nothing."

He argues, "I gave ya that husband who gives ya that money. Me! I did that! And what did he do? He took me to London to die, so I never laid eyes on ya again. That's the man ya married."

His admission would've made me hate Tynan in the past, yet all I can do right now is understand why he did it. It might've been wrong that Tynan lied to me, but I know he did it with my best interests at heart. He saw who my da was when I couldn't. And more truth hits me. My da is nothing shy of evil.

The door opens, and the two thugs appear. "I suggest ya get that back on her mouth, old man," the one who gave my father the fifth states.

Da sighs and fights with me again to shove the gag in my mouth. When it's secured, he turns to face them. "Sorry, just wanted to hear what my daughter had to say."

His daughter. How can anyone do this to their daughter? I think, and more tears fall.

The thug states, "Ya got one minute until the bosses are here. Straighten yourself up, Malachy."

Fear fills Da's face. He nods. "Aye, Thank you." My father attempts to comb his hair with his fingers. He takes another sip of the fifth and then sets it behind the cot. He sits on the thin mattress while tapping his fingers on his thighs.

Several minutes pass. My heart beats rapidly.

The other man orders, "Get up."

Da rises.

My stomach dives and spins. I think I'm going to throw up again. I'm worried that if I do, I'll choke to death with this gag in my mouth.

The sound of footsteps fills the air and then it becomes clear who the bosses are. I get dizzy with fear.

Dagan and Grady O'Leary step inside the tiny room, sinister looks on both their faces.

Dagan states to my da, "It's about time ya served her up, Malachy."

"Aye, ya know that he took her out of the country, but I got her here," Da says, as if he's proud of himself and it's a big accomplishment.

"Does that make ya think that we've forgiven ya?" Grady asks.

Da's face falls. He claims, "My debt has been fulfilled. The contract is intact."

"She's spoiled goods," Dagan announces.

My stomach churns faster. My pulse skyrockets.

Grady comes closer, grabs my chin, and moves it so I'm facing the ceiling.

My entire body shakes.

He stares down at me, asserting, "Aye, she's spoiled goods. We'll still make use of her, though, won't we, Dagan?"

He laughs. "Aye, there's always room for more whores."

My horror catches in my throat. I choke. It becomes so bad that Grady tears the tape off my mouth. A sting spreads across my cheek and lips. I take several breaths, trying to stop coughing.

"Can I go now?" Da questions.

Dagan laughs once more. He steps in front of my father. "Why do ya want to leave so fast?"

Da stutters, "I-I-I—"
