"I can't."

"Why not?" I push.

Tully studies me and then answers, "How would I know he's capable of running New York if he can't figure the issues in Ireland out?"

I gape at him. "Run New York?"

"Aye. Did he not tell ya what our deal was?" he asks.

I shake my head. "No. He just said that if he tied up his business ends, we could return to New York for good."

Tully arches his eyebrows. "Well, maybe I should let your husband tell ya."

"Or maybe you should tell me as my father-in-law," I chirp, smiling at him.

He chuckles. "All right. But when he asks, ya have to tell him how this came out or act surprised."

I lean closer and put my hand on Tully's. "Why don't I just act surprised?"

His grin widens. "All right. It'll be our secret."

"Sounds good. So what's your deal exactly?" I sit back on the sofa.

He takes a long drag of his cigar and then blows circles. He states, "I told him if he cleaned up his business transactions, he and Devin could come back and run New York."

"Lauren and Dominick are coming back too?"

Amusement fills Tully's expression. "Aye. I won't let Devin come here without his wife and child."

"Duh," I reprimand myself.

Tully chuckles again.

I cautiously question, "So Tynan's going to run operations in New York?"

"Aye."

"But don't you run New York?"

"Aye. But I won't live forever."

"Is something wrong with your health?"

He chuckles. "No, dear. But if ya haven't noticed, I'm not getting any younger."

The thought of Tully not being here makes me sad.

He questions, "Can I ask what ya assumed Tynan would be doing once he's back here full-time?"

I shrug. "I don't know. I'm kind of in the dark about what ya guys do, except that it's dangerous and probably illegal."

Tully winces. "Please don't say that in front of too many people."

"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to be disrespectful."

"You're not, Maeve."

I blow out a breath of air. "Okay, so do ya think Tynan's close to being done having to go back and forth to Ireland?"
