"You're a natural."
I pick up a piece of the beef and take a bite. "Mmm."
Tynan watches me.
I chew, swallow, and declare, "That beef just melted in my mouth. How is that possible?"
Tynan chuckles and then kisses the side of my forehead. "It's called quality. And I'm glad you're enjoying this." He picks up a piece, pops it in his mouth, and hits the remote.
I close my eyes.
He holds my drink to my lips. "Have a sip of wine."
I obey, but I don't know if I should. My temperature rises, and endorphins begin to build again.
Tynan slides his hand over my back and rests it on my hip. He grips it and then kisses my cheek. "Why do ya look so hot, princess?"
I dig my nails into his thigh, trying not to squirm in my seat. "I—"
He slides his tongue into my mouth, kissing and holding me tight.
A wave of adrenaline explodes in all of my cells. I convulse into him until he hits the remote again.
The vibrations disappear. He retreats from my lips and arrogantly questions, "Ya doing okay?"
I can't answer. I'm breathless. My insides are still quivering.
He stares at me until I grow uncomfortable.
I nervously ask, "Why are ya staring at me?"
He blurts out, "Why didn't ya tell me ya were a virgin?"
I look away.
He places his finger under my chin and turns my face back toward him, questioning, "Well?"
Shame fills me. I shrug. "It's not something ya go around announcing to people."
"Aye. But I'm not just people. I'm your husband."
"It's not like we have a normal relationship."
He continues assessing me, studying me until I squirm.
"Can't ya not stare at me like that all night?"
He lingers a bit longer, then gives me a chaste kiss. He leans back and points at the food. "Eat."
We eat silently for a bit. In the corner of my eye, I see Debbie. The same feeling I felt when it dawned on me that he slept with her resurfaces.
I blurt, "How many women have ya slept with?"
He clenches his jaw and tenses.
I add, "Ya have to answer. We're still playing the game. Unless ya want to quit, of course."
He takes a sip of beer.
