“I was.”

The way he says that makes my entire body light on fire, but I cover it up with a coy smirk.

“Well, I sure hope you enjoyed the view from over here.” I eye the pretty woman who is watching our exchange and feel a small wave of jealousy wash its way through me.

He doesn’t answer, but does run a hand across his jaw, the muscles of his arms popping slightly. God, it’s ridiculous how good-looking he is. It’s ridiculous that I had him for a few minutes, but can’t have him again.

I mean, I maybe could. But I won’t.

“Can I talk to you for a second?” he asks, and I nod, grabbing on to my drink and taking a sip.

“Not here,” he says when I continue to stand near the bar.

“Fine, lead the way,” I say and then offer the woman an apologetic smile. She was shooting her shot and is now being left alone so Tomas can have a chat with me.

She shrugs and then turns around, sipping at her drink, and watching us move away from her in the mirror behind the counter.

Tomas leads me outside, where tables are scattered around a covered patio, and doesn’t stop until we’re in a dark corner.

“Ooh, how creepy but in a very exciting way,” I say, and Tomas lets out a small laugh.

“Yeah, I just…I wanted to talk to you without all the noise.”

“Alright,” I say, leaning my hip against the low wall beside me. “What’s up?”

“Trenton likes you.”

I nod. “Seems he does. And he’s a cutie pie.”

He glances away from me and then sighs. “You like him?”

I don’t want to play games. I really don’t. So I answer truthfully. “As a friend.”

He wets his lips and then lets out a long exhale.

I can’t help but ask, because I need to know. “Why, Tomas? You jealous?”

His eyes slash to mine and he takes a step toward me, making my entire body thrum with need. I want him again.

“Seems I don’t like it that much.”

“Like what?” I breathe.

“The thought of you with him.”

My drink sloshes over my hand as my entire body trembles with need.

“The thought of you with anyone but me.”

“Oh my god,” I whisper, and he reaches down and sets my drink on the wall and then lifts my wet hand and brings it to his mouth. I lose the ability to breathe as his tongue sneaks out and licks up the side of my thumb.

My entire body nearly combusts as he wraps his lips around each of my fingers, sucking them clean and then when he’s done, he holds on to my wrist, feeling the unsteady thump of my pulse.

“You’re killing me,” I manage to say, and Tomas lets my hand go, handing me my drink. I take a long-drawn-out gulp, letting the carbonation wash down my parched throat.

“You’re killingme,” he admits and then nods back toward the bar. “Flirt all you want, but remember what I said. Remember me.”

How the fuck could I forget this? Forget him?
