“So, it’s okay for you to screw the entire school, but I can’t even talk to a guy?” I challenged.

“Yep,” he answered with no shame in his voice. “That’s about right.”

“You’re such a hypocrite, Lars,” I practically shouted.

“I never said that I wasn’t,” he fired back. “It still doesn’t change anything, Edie.”

“I’m not your responsibility!” I yelled.

“Wrong again,” he replied easily, and his casualness just made me want to smack his smug face.

Taking in a deep breath, I tried another tactic. “What if Talon tells you that it’s okay to back off?” Lars’ hazel eyes narrowed. “If he tells you that it’s okay for me to date, then what?”

“He won’t, so it doesn’t matter,” he countered, but his voice sounded eerily soft, not at all like the Lars Finley that I was used to.

“What if it does?” This was my only chance, so I was not going to back down.

Lars looked pissed.

“Get in the car, Edie,” he ordered, and I had no idea what to make of that.

“Answer the question,” I insisted.

“There’s no point,” he replied. “There’s no way that Talon would be okay with you dating.”

“I’m eighteen.”

“You could be fucking eighty for all I care,” he fired back. “Now get in the fucking car before I throw you in it.”

My eyes rounded. “You wouldn’t.”

“Try me.” Then, before I could say anything, Lars turned towards the players that had been hanging back to be nosey. “Don’t you motherfuckers have somewhere to be?”

I watched them all scatter like scared mice, and I couldn’t understand how they’d be worried about Lars when most of them were taller and bigger than him. Yeah, Lars had a great body and was shredded all to hell, but some of the football players were way taller than six-foot and weighed a lot more than Lars.

Shaking my head, I said, “You’re being unreasonable, Lars.”

“Get in the car before you really piss me off, Edie,” he said, and if this wasn’t Lars being pissed off, then what the hell?

“The door is locked,” I hissed angrily.

Lars clicked the key fob, then reached around me to open the car door for me. Normally, when he did this, I found it sweet and chivalrous. However, right now, not so much.

When I was safely inside the car, Lars shut the door, then the bastard clicked the key fob again, locking me inside. I eyed him as he walked around the front of the car, wondering what was going through his mind to believe that he’d had to lock me inside the damn vehicle.

As soon as he got in the car, I asked, “What the hell, Lars? Locking me in, really?”

He placed his arm on the back of my seat, then leaned into me, his hazel eyes glowing. “Do you want to ride in the trunk? Because that works just fine for me, Edie.”

The audacity on this guy, really.

“Are you forgetting that this ismycar, Finley?”

“Ask me if I give a fuck, Draven,” he shot back, and I could feel myself snarling like a rabid animal.

Turning from him, I faced the front of the car, crossing my arms over my chest. “You are fucking unbelievable.”

“Keep testing me, and you’ll see just how unbelievable I can be,” he threatened, and there was no way that I wasn’t calling Talon as soon as I got to the house.
