“Ediewho?”

“Draven, you jackass,” I snapped.

“Holy fuck, are you serious?”

“Do you honestly think that I’d joke about something like that?”

“Jesus Christ,” he swore. “Have you lost your mind?”

“You think?” He really wasn’t helping.

“Okay…okay,” he said, letting out a deep breath. “What happened, Lars?”

Letting out a deep breath of my own, I told him everything, and I left nothing out. I wasn’t proud of sharing the details, but I needed some serious guidance here, and Hunter couldn’t help me if he didn’t know the truth. Plus, he and Alexandria were finally at a good place, and I felt a little guilty dumping this on him when he had just managed to come up for air himself.

When I was done, he said, “You have to talk to her, Lars.”

“You don’t think that I should tell Talon what happened?”

“Of course, I think that you should tell Talon,” he replied. “I just think that you should wait until you have something to tell him, besides just the fact that you kissed his baby sister.”

“Christ, could you not say it like that?” I grumbled.

“Well, you did, little brother,” he pointed out harshly.

“You suck at this,” I lied, grateful for my brother, no matter what.

“Look, I can’t tell you how Talon’s going to react, but I do know him well enough to know that you can’t just tell him that you kissed Edie without any other answers to all the questions that he’s bound to ask,” he said, and he wasn’t wrong. “I think you need to figure out what you guys are doing before you mention it to Talon.”

“Idon’t knowwhat we’re doing,” I replied in frustration. “She blew me off and pretty much sent me on my way, Hunter. The only thing missing was a pat on my head.” The fucker chuckled. “I’m going to hang up now.”

“Hey, no…I’m sorry,” he said, not sounding sorry at all. “I just…if anyone knows how to handle you, it’s Edie Draven.”

“Oh, she’s handling me alright,” I complained. “She’s handling my sanity like I don’t need it or anything.”

“Okay, drama queen,” Hunter drawled out.

“Eat a dick.”

“Look, if you called me for advice, I say you hold off telling Talon anything, then talk to her,” he repeated. “You guys have too many years of friendship under your belt to fuck things up.”

“What if she decides to tell Talon first ?”

Hunter let out another heavy sigh. “How do you feel about her, Lars. Seriously, no bullshit.”

Unfortunately, that question was easy to answer. “The thought of another guy getting anywhere near her makes me murderous.”

My brother chuckled again. “Well, since no girl has ever made you feel like that before, then I’d say you’re fucked, and if you really don’t want to go crazy, you talk to Edie and work this shit out.”

“Hunter?”

“Yeah?”

“My chest feels like it’s going to cave in with how guilty I feel right now,” I confessed. “Not telling Talon feels fucking wrong, man. Everything about this fucked-up situation feels fucking wrong, honestly.”

“Sadly, I can’t help you with that, Lars,” he replied quietly. “I mean, if you have to choose between Talon’s friendship or a possible relationship with Edie, which feels more important to you?”

“Talon’s friendship, of course,” I answered automatically.
