“There, that should do it.”

I’ll have Willow come into the study right away to look at the apartments I found. When she gets to the last sheet of paper with my house printed on it, she’s sure to be confused.

That’s good, as that’s when I’ll lead her into the kitchen and show her the flowers. I’ll tell her that the card will explain everything.

And it will.

This is going to be so good.

The next step in my preparations is to head back into the kitchen and fill out the small white card that came with the flowers.

There’s no way I can fit all I want to say to Willow on it, so I decide to just tape the key to my house to the tiny piece of card stock.

It’s the same one that was once hers. So when she takes it out of the accompanying envelope, that’s when I’ll ask her if she’ll move in with me.

God, I hope she says yes.

Otherwise, I’m going to feel like a real fool.

Willow

When Arden texts me midday that he’s already researched potential apartments for me, I’m a little taken aback.

I didn’t expect this level of enthusiasm from him.

I sit at my desk, on a break from spreadsheets and ledgers, and think about what this could mean.

He’s far too excited about helping me find an apartment. I hope my plan to have him ask me to move in with him doesn’t backfire.

Worry consumes me the rest of the workday.

And it doesn’t end there.

Even when I’m back at my house and up in my bedroom, changing into faded jean shorts and an oversized white blouse that I tie at my waist, exposing my stomach, I’m still concerned.

But what can I do?

If he doesn’t ask, he doesn’t ask.

“Maybe he found some super apartments,” I grumble as I slip on sneakers. “At least I’ll have a place to start if he doesn’t want me living with him.”

But that’s not what I want.

Blowing out a breath, I head downstairs and out to the driveway.

Since storm clouds are now darkening the sky and it looks like it could rain any minute, I hop into my car and drive up to Arden’s as opposed to walking.

I don’t have a key to his house any longer, seeing as I threw it at him that day with Lydia.

Dumb move, as I don’t know when—or if—he’ll ever give it back to me.

Anyway, when I reach his front door, I have no choice but to ring the bell.

I feel a little more optimistic when Arden swings open the door and the first thing he does is check me out.

I like it; his primal gaze makes me feel warm and tingly in all the right places.

I watch as his eyes travel hungrily down over my bare midriff and to my legs. “Damn, babe, you look hot. I really like that outfit.”
