Willow moves in with me even before Hayden and Addison return from their trip to Europe.

Once they’re back in town, though, we discover they’re more than happy for us.

Hmmm, I have a feeling it’s what they were always hoping for, those two sneaky matchmakers. They knew what we needed before we even did.

They were right, too, as I’m no longer lonely.

Nope, I’m in love, and it’s damn beautiful. Hell, love has even mended Willow’s once-broken heart.Mylove.

I’m glad I was the one to piece her heart back together. Sure, our one big fight reopened a tear, but all is well now.

Her heart is full…and so is mine.

We’re just so fucking good together. That’s why we both know marriage is in our future. And kids too. But not yet. Willow wants to wait for a while, as she’s had so many life changes in such a short period of time—graduating from college, moving to Atlanta, starting her job with the Thunder, meeting me.

And now we’re living together.

So yeah, we’ve agreed to just enjoy the moment for now. All those other good things will come in time.

There’s a peace in that, as we know it’s true.

Time moves on, and summer comes to a close. My teammates trickle back into town one by one.

Training camp begins, and then the regular season.

In fact, it starts tonight.

We’re playing our first game that counts, and it’s against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the same team that beat us in the playoffs.

Thanks to my blunder.

Grrr…

It doesn’t bother me like it did before. Mostly I rarely think about it. But tonight, playing the Lightning, it’s on my mind.

Particularly right now, as we’re tied and going into overtime.

Yeah, it’s like fucking déjà vu when I jump over the boards from the bench and hit the ice with my linemates, Hayden and Nils.

We get right to work, battling for the puck in the corner.

I come up with it.

Shit, move, go, go, go…

I do. I skate into the opponent’s zone, juking and jiving past the Lightning players.

The next thing I see is Hayden, and he’s open.

So I pass to him.

He shoots, but the goaltender blocks the shot, making the puck squirt out onto my stick.

Wow, this really is fucking déjà vu.

But one thing is different. Willow is here, watching me play.

Quickly, and only for a flash, I glance up to where she’s seated. She’s wearing my jersey, so I pick her out instantly. I signed that jersey right before the game. Can you believe, after all this time, that’s what she finally decided she wanted me to sign?
