“I love them. Much more than a bowl of limes.” We both chuckled at our little shared joke.

“Well, this is sweet,” Grant interrupted, “but Mia and I were talking.”

“You were, but I need to speak with her now. You understand. Or not.” Will tugged me away, leaving an irritated Grant behind.

Somehow he managed to find a private corner and pressed me up against a wall. How did he keep doing this? Why did I keep letting him?

“Why did you think my flowers were from that elitist poser?”

It took me a minute to refocus on his words because I thought he was just going to kiss me again. I decided to ignore the part that felt disappointed he hadn’t.

“You didn’t really sign it. You knew I was courting other alphas.”

“But I thought mentioning my scent was obvious.”

“Oh. No. Actually, you and Grant have very similar scents. Yours is lime and salt, but his is lime with a touch of coconut, like you might get on a key lime pie. You mentioned both.”

“Grant and I have the same scent?” Will seemed skeptical.

“Basically… Yep.” I popped the P, and Will’s eyes zeroed in on my lips.

“Go out with me again.”

“What?” I was getting whiplash from this conversation.

“Go out with me. Accept a courting date. A real one.” He pressed in even closer, and that lime scent we were just talking about completely surrounded me.

“No.” I couldn’t cave now.

He leaned down and whispered against my lips. “Say yes.”

“Fine,” I huffed, pushing him back before we made any more bad decisions, and he actually looked… hopeful?

“Fine,” he parroted. “I’ll even make it easy for you to accept. What would you like to do?”

“You’ll let me choose our date?” I didn’t believe it.

“Absolutely. Anything you’d like.”

I thought for a moment, but the idea came to me immediately, and I couldn’t keep the playful smirk off my face.

“Oh, no,” he sighed. “What did you think of?”

I stood up as tall as my height would allow and tried to regain my composure. “I’d be pleased to accept a courting date to the student union theater to see a showing ofKissmas Eve.”

He stared at me blankly for a moment.

“Uh, you want me to take you to see a Christmas rom com?”

“Yes, sir. I do.”

Will let out a tiny growl at hearing me call him ‘sir,’ and it startled us both.

“A rom com it is. I’ll submit the request immediately.” He pressed in close and took a deep breath of my floral scent before he abruptly turned and walked away. The thick, luxurious, lime aroma he left behind made it clear that he wasn’t leaving in anger. I let out a deep sigh, but didn’t move from the little bubble he left me in.

What did I just sign myself up for?

I took a minute to pull myself together before I walked back to the party. When I tried to pass Tanner and Kara, he reached out and grabbed my arm.
