I laughed and slapped him on the back. "You? Romantic? I can't wait to see this shit."

"Have you ever been with someone more than one night, Mad? Or even more than just a couple of hours?" Zen's smirk was teasing.

Maddox huffed. "You fuckers think you know everything about me, but you don't."

I held up my hands in surrender. "Okay, well, when you're ready to unpack whatever's going on in there," I pointed to him and circled my finger around in his general direction. "We can talk about it."

He rolled his dark eyes and muttered, "Like a fucking bunch of girls."

Zen stopped peeling the label off his beer bottle and laughed. "Knock girls all you want, Mad, but they seem to have a better handle on all this relationship shit than we do."

"How did we end up dissecting my love life? I thought we were here for True."

I cleared my throat. "Right. I want to ask Amara to marry me, but I have no clue how to ask her. It has to be special and perfect."

"I hate to bethat guy, but you sound like a fucking chick." Maddox elbowed me in the ribs and gave me the side-eye.

"And? He has to get into that headspace to be romantic. You can't think like a guy, you have to think about your girl and what she'd want." Zen twisted his wedding band around on his finger, a ghost of a smile crossed his face as his mind wandered no doubt back to when he proposed to Kennedy.

"Amara loves surprises, so I know she'd want it to be a total surprise. I don't think she's expecting me to ask her, at least not until the baby comes. We've talked about being together and raising little P as a family, but not really about marriage."

Maddox rubbed his chin, his gaze far off, locked on the wall in the back of the bar. "What's the place with the best view of the city?"

Zen pulled out his phone and started tapping. "Griffith Observatory." He held it up so we could see the pictures. He wasn't kidding, it looked like an incredible view.

"I grew up here. How have I never been there before?" I wondered out loud.

"I haven't either. How about you, Mad?"

Maddox shook his head. "Nope."

Zen focused his attention back on me. "When do you want to do this?"

"Uh, yesterday?" I laughed.

"I'll call and find out if you can rent it out for a night." Zen slid out of the booth, his phone pressed to his ear, and walked outside.

Maddox glanced at me. "I'm happy for you, T."

I patted him on the back and flashed him a grin. "Thanks, buddy."

"Do you already have a ring?"

I shook my head. "Not yet."

We both looked up as Zen sat back down. "It'll cost you a shit ton of money, but you can do it. Day after tomorrow work for you?"

I swallowed down the butterflies taking flight in my stomach and nodded.

"Good, because I already gave them my card to reserve it." He laughed. "You owe me ten grand."

"Thanks, Z." He tilted his beer at me before taking a sip. "What am I going to do with this place? Catered dinner?"

Maddox shifted in the booth next to me. "Leave that part to me. What time will they shut it down to the public?" His eyes were on Zen.

"Four."

"I'll show up at four and get set up. You just worry about getting your girl there."
