I exhaled slowly. Fuck, this was really happening. "Okay."

Zen grinned and pounded his fist on the table. "I'm so goddamn happy for you, True. Maddox and I've got this. We might even get Jericho in on it if he's around. Don't worry."

I finished my beer and picked up my phone. "You guys ready to get out of here?"

Maddox downed the rest of his beer and slid out of the booth. "Where are we going?"

I grinned. "Ring shopping."

Two days later,I crawled across the bed, pulling Amara's laptop out of her lap. Her brow furrowed, and I reached up and smoothed the skin between her eyebrows out with my finger. "You're so beautiful."

I watched as the confusion and irritation at my interruption morphed into a smile, the smile that lit my soul up. "I've got a surprise for you."

She brightened. "A surprise? Right now?"

I grinned and grabbed her hand, pulling her up and off the bed with me. "Now."

She looked down at herself. "Should I change?"

"You're sexy in whatever you wear, including those leggings and tank top. But maybe for this, you should put on something a little bit less casual."

"Like formalwear?"

Shaking my head, I laughed. "No gowns needed. Maybe just a sundress? Or whatever the equivalent of that is in pants."

Amara started to walk past me toward our closet before she stopped and gripped my shirt in her hand, pulling me down until I met her lips. She kissed me softly and whispered, "I love you."

I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her against me. "I love you, too. Now, go change so we're not late." Reluctantly, I let her go, heat spiraling through my veins straight to my cock as I watched her hips sway. I adjusted myself and sat on the bed, pulling my phone out to try and distract myself from the way my heart was beating frantically against my ribs. I was trying not to show it on the outside, but I was terrified she'd say no.

She walked out of the closet in a lacy dress that hugged her body. It hit at about mid-thigh and showed off every delicious curve. She grinned before spinning for me. "Will this work?"

I jumped up, not knowing how the fuck I was going to keep myself from ripping that dress off tonight and burying myself inside of her. I stalked across the room, gripping her hips and pulling her against me, covering her mouth with my own.

Like she always did, she moaned softly and opened herself to me as I kissed the hell out of her. I knew I needed to pull back now, or we'd never make it, and tonight was too important. I gently pulled myself back, placing light kisses on her soft lips and along her jaw. "You look incredible. It's going to be a serious effort to be good tonight."

Her eyes twinkled mischievously as she looked up into mine. "What if I don't want you to be good?"

I groaned and stepped back, taking a deep breath. "Fuck. Don't look at me like that. We've gotta go."

She laughed lightly and grabbed my hand. "Okay, let's go then."

After a short drive, we pulled up to the observatory. The parking lot was empty, so I knew my boys had gotten out in time. The sun had just sunk below the horizon, and the sky was lit up with a golden glow streaked with purple. I walked around my Jeep and opened the door for Amara, helping her down and taking her hand in mine.

I noticed a pathway lined with candles flickering in the breeze, their light soft but getting brighter by the minute as the daylight faded. Amara gasped next to me and tightened her grip on my hand, a sweet smile on her lips.

We walked along the pathway until we got to the overlook, a large concrete deck jutting out of the side of a cliff. The observatory itself sat behind us and in front of us was the city of Los Angeles, lit up brighter than the stars beginning to pop out in the darkening sky.

I glanced down at Amara. Her eyes were locked on the scene in front of her, mouth slightly open, and eyes filled with wonder. "Wow," she breathed.

"I know." I couldn't tear my eyes away from her, from the way the fading golden light made her skin look like it was glowing or the way her hair brushed against the swell of her breasts in the breeze.

She lifted her gaze to mine, and I knew this was it. This was my moment, and when I realized it, my heart frantically slammed against my ribs, and my legs became shaky. I still held her hand, and I slowly dropped to one knee in front of her as her eyes widened.

"True?"

I reached into my pocket and pulled out the velvet box that held my promise of a future to her. Surrounded by a sky filled with stars, one of the biggest cities in the world, and twinkle lights and flickering candles, she was the only thing I could see. Exhaling a shaky breath, I began. "Amara, when I think about my future, all I see is you. I look out at this city, standing here on top of the world, and all I can think about is how I want to be there to watch you take it. To go after every single dream you have, to stand side by side as you show our daughter what it means to have it all. To be strong enough to go after what you want and never waver in your convictions that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to."
