“No?” the man says stepping to the side and casually walking around the tight space.

“How could you when your mother ran off with this piece of shit before I could stop her!” he snarls, kicking Porter in the stomach. Porter coughs and grunts and Lycus’ hands fist at his sides.

“What do you want?” Lycus growls.

“Nothing more than for me to take you home so you can take your rightful seat at the throne.”

“Throne!” Lycus scoffed and glanced at Porter.

“You truly don’t recognize me do you, son? I thought my scent would give it away,” the man ponders thoughtfully yet all Lycus could smell was his sweat and the blood of the man he just pummeled.

“Your mother and I were married once, until she met her true mate and ran off while she was three weeks pregnant with you. I did find you but she agreed to bring you back to me when you turned 16, however she never showed.” Lycus’ jaw clenches as he glares down at his father.

“Not that I blamed her. I never loved your mother; it was merely an arrangement between two prominent families, until your mother chose that fool.”

“My mothers parents are dead!” Lycus spits.

“Correct, she couldn’t very well leave me with no repercussions, how would that appear to my Kingdom? As much as I wanted to kill her, I knew she was pregnant, and I needed an heir, which is you.”

“Well you’re barking up the wrong tree whatever your name is, I don’t want your pissy throne.”

The man laughs, and shakes his head. “It wasn’t a choice, son, you’re the rightful heir, and you will take your place on Lycarian throne,” Lycus gasps finally realizing why he looks familiar, Lysander Elliot Lycarian, he was known for working alongside the Wraiths, his reputation just as tainted.”

“Now that name you recognize, son? Hm. Although that…'' he looks at Lycus’ neck and snarls, “will have to be removed. I don’t care if you keep him as your side piece but you will marry a woman, I won’t have a poofter for a son, you’ll have to take another, a woman. Or people will talk.”

“Fuck you and your throne I don’t want, now leave.”

‘So feisty for someone who hasn’t even manifested. I am offering you the world, riches, you’d barely have to work a day in your life. Think of Kalen, and the things you could do for him, the lifestyle you could offer him.” Lycus shakes his head.

“No, Kalen won’t be alright with me marrying a woman, and I won’t marry anyone that isn’t my mate,”

“Yet you took a Dark-Fae as one!”

“Kalen is different, now leave, I want nothing to do with a man who abandoned me and killed my mother’s family.”

“Correction, son, I did not just kill her family,” he smirks glaring down at Porter. “It cost him his too,” the man smiles.

Lycus' anger ripples, and so does his skin, the man's eyes flash wickedly at the challenge when he sucks in a deep breath. “Fine, very well, have it your way, son. But you’ll regret turning down my offer,” Lysander tells him before sneering one last time at Porter and walking out.

Lycus turns to Porter on the ground helping him sit up. “Lycus!” Porter rasps, trying to catch his breath.

“Come on, let's get you out of here.”

“No, he has Kalen and he has my phone!” Porter chokes out and Lycus blood runs cold.

“What?”

“He said he has Kalen if you don’t agree,” Porter rasps shoving him.

“Go, go. I’ll be fine!” Porter waves Lycus off and Lycus doesn’t hesitate, he takes off running through the tunnels, to race home to Kalen. Only when he gets there Kalen is gone. He checked the club where they worked and couldn’t find him there either, the chefs telling Lycus he went home early feeling ill. Lycus races back to the tent however the moment he steps out the back doors he sees a limo. He growls marching over to it and ripping the door open only no one is inside. But the driver winds down the window.

“Mr. Lysander sent for you.” The driver tells him and Lycus looks around before realizing he has no choice if he wants to find Kalen.

However what he isn’t expecting is to be brought back to the pits which are practically empty now the fights are over. The driver leads him back inside and the moment he does his blood runs cold. Kalen is in the pit, being pummeled half to death by the two goons that grabbed him earlier, his father leaning against the ropes spots him straight away and smiles cruelly. He holds up his hands telling them to stop and they do. Lycus growls and Kalen groans while Lycus rushes toward him. He jumps into the ring but Kalen is unconscious and his father chuckles.

“You can’t escape your position, son, that throne is yours whether you come willingly or not, you will be taking your seat in it. Or–” he motions to Kalen when movement catches his eye, Porter stumbles out of the rooms out the back, his eyes move to Lycus, and he nods once, toward Kalen and then the exit. Lycus doesn’t acknowledge Porter but Porter hides amongst the bleachers.

“You’ve done enough, this will only serve to piss me off, not get me to take the throne,” Lycus snarls at Lysander before scooping him up. The moment he does the two men in the ring shift and Lycus freezes snarling at them both as they watch him.
