She grabbed a couple towels out of the linen closet in the corner, along with the foam mat she used when she had to scrub the floor. After dropping the towels on the edge of the counter next to the sink, she headed for the shower. When his eyes dropped down to the mat in her hand, she shrugged. “My knees aren’t what they used to be, and that stone is hell on them.”

Rex’s expression said, impressed,as he nodded and pushed open the glass shower door to let her in. “Can I borrow that when it’s my turn?”

“My mat is your mat,” she replied as she dropped it to the ground between them.

After gracing him with the no-fuss, all-fun morning blow job, they cleaned each other up. His hands had found her fun places enough times to have her bending over in front of him with her palms to the wall and demanding he fuck her. By the time he was done, there was just enough hot water for them to clean up again and to wash their hair.

As he dried his hair with his towel, he mumbled something about his hair being hell to brush when he didn’t use conditioner, but it was worth it. She had made a mental note to grab some the next time she went shopping.

While she got ready for work, he had pulled on his jeans and disappeared. She found him in the kitchen and had leaned against the doorjamb to watch him work at her coffee pot.

He was hot as sin, but he was also mature. Thank fuck for that, because she had no patience for immaturity. Sure, it was hilarious to watch someone else deal with it, but she couldn’t handle it when she was on the receiving end. While Rex pushed her limits and drove her crazy at times, he wasn’t immature or irresponsible. No, he wasn’t those things. He was just stubborn.

“If you keep staring at me like that,” he began as he turned a bit to look back at her, “I’m going to need that mat so I can take my turn servicing you on my knees.”

“Is that supposed to stop me?”

He chuckled. “No, but you’re supposed to be to work in thirty minutes… and I’m going to need longer than that.”

She grinned. “Fair. Rain check?”

“Done.” He winked. “No blackout dates.”

She tsked and crossed the kitchen to stand at his side. “You, Mr. Piccolo, are too much temptation.”

“Mmm,” he hummed as he dropped his head down and nibbled at her neck. “I would dial it back, but I don’t think you want that.”

She pulled her hand back before she swung and made contact with his jean-covered ass. “You better not.”

He growled against her skin. “Never.”

While they waited for the pot to brew, Jolene went in search of Beast and found him under the bed in the guest room. She coaxed him out and had to carry him out to the backyard because the poor dog wouldn’t go in the kitchen while Rex was there.

After he was done with his business, she brought him back inside and set him down in the living room, before she went to the kitchen and retrieved his food and water. She figured she’d let him eat in the living room, since he was having such a traumatic morning with the much larger canine setting off his nerves.

Giggling to herself, she returned to the kitchen and took the offered to-go cup from Rex.

He kissed her lips and cocked a brow. “What’s so funny?”

“Just another dog joke.”

Rex rolled his eyes. “I’ll lock up after I finish getting dressed.”

“Thank you.” She lifted up on her toes and gave him another kiss. “Text me later, and we’ll decide when we’ll see each other next.”

“You’ll see me tonight, but I’ll text to find out where.”

She gave him a glare at his presumption, but the display on the microwave was next to his head and the time distracted her. “Shit. Gotta go. Text me, and we’ll argue about this later.” Then she turned and walked away.

“Yes, Ma’am,” he said, making her steps falter for a second before she walked out of the kitchen to the front door.

As Jolene headed for her little SUV, she took a sip of the coffee and moaned. Yup, she was pretty sure Rex Piccolo was the man for her… and she wasn’t even mad about it.

Rex

Well, he tried. That was all he could say when he wasn’t able to get Beast to come out from under the end table. All he was trying to do was to prove to the little Yorkie that he wouldn’t hurt him, but Beast wasn’t ready, and Rex decided to respect that. Eventually, the pup would see that he was just another cuddler who liked getting petted by the pretty veterinarian.

Giving up on trying to win the dog over for the day, Rex got dressed and made sure Doc’s house was locked up before he made his way to his truck. He needed to at least go use some conditioner, or he’d never be able to brush through his hair. He liked it long, but it did come with some extra maintenance.
