“Is this about my ex?”

“Give Keys your phone, Kitten.”

Megan rolled her eyes and handed over the device before walking across the space to stand at Arbor’s side. “Is this about Joshua?”

He gave a nod. “Well… that, and you never know.”

“Did something happen to make you think he’s coming?” Anxiety began to swirl in her gut as she stared at her man. “Is he here?”

The slightly shrill sound of her voice brought his gaze to her. His brows pulled together in what she thought of as hisI don’t like thisface, and he called out, “Keys, take over.” Once Keys was next to the ladder, Arbor took her hand and led her back to his bedroom, closing them in.

“Do I need to pack back up?” Twisting her hands together in front of her, she tried to keep the panic at bay, but she couldn’t stop it from taking over.

Arbor cupped her face in his palms and lowered his head until he was only a couple of inches from her and staring into her eyes. “I told you that no matter what happened, you would have the Howlers… you would haveme. Do you really think this prick could take on a club of shifters? Kitten, you’re safe.”

She nodded. “Okay. Yeah.” Trying to convince herself of it, she repeated his words. “I’m safe.”

“That’s right. Now, I don’t know if he’s heading in this direction exactly, but there have been some uses of his cards in the Detroit area, so we know he’s in the state.”

“Fuck,” she whispered and huffed out a breath.

“You’re safe.”

She nodded again. “I’m safe. You and the Howlers have my back.”

“Damn straight, we do.” He kissed her forehead and wrapped her up in his arms. She soaked in the woodsy scent of him and let him hold her. “Kitten, you don’t have to worry.”

“Are they going to install a system at my cabin, too?”

Arbor pulled his head back to look down at her. “Uh… sure, if you want.”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

He smiled. “You haven’t stayed there since you moved in. Now that we’re mated, I figured you’d just move in here, but we can live there… I guess.”

Megan face planted into his chest, feeling like a dope. Of course, Arbor would want them to live together. She didn’t even think about it. And he wasn’t wrong. She hadn’t stayed at the cabin. The only use that bed got was when he fucked her brains out on it the day she moved in. Since then, she had spent the majority of her time and all of her nights in Arbor’s treehouse.

“I’m dumb.”

“Hey,” he grumbled. “Don’t talk about my mate that way.” Then he cupped her chin and lifted until she looked up at him. “Kitten, will you move in with me?”

She would have said yes anyway, but the cheesy grin he gave would have convinced her to do just about anything. Returning his smile, she answered, “Yes, but if we decide to have kids, you’re going to have to add a wing to this place.”

He groaned and nipped her bottom lip. “Don’t talk about kids. My brothers are in the next room, and if you talk about kids, I’m going to want to start making them.”

Megan couldn’t stop her laughter when she heard Keys voice call out, “We’re done! Phone’s on the counter! You know how to use the system! Bye!”

ARBOR

Whenhisbrothersleft,Arbor stripped Kitten naked, dropped to his knees, and used his tongue to bring her to climax twice, before he pressed her against the wall and fucked her until she screamed his name.

The thought of making babies with her was like pouring gasoline on the fire of attraction he felt for her. Imagining her round with his cub was more than he could take and had his lion demanding they get on that immediately. As he pounded into her pussy, visions of worshiping her pregnant body filled his mind and had him aching for the day he could do that. No matter what shape her body was in, no matter what stage in their lives, there was no doubt in Arbor’s mind that he would still think she was the most beautiful woman in the world.

When they had both found release, he carried her to the shower and spent more than enough time cleaning her body and washing her hair. The talk of babies and her safety had activated the alpha male in him, making him want to take care of her, worship her, and provide for her.

The evolved human in him knew that it was a fine line he had to walk, because it could easily cross the line of overbearing and stifling, but it was an urge he couldn’t completely deny. Rather than lock her up and guard her cage with his fangs and claws, Arbor chose to soap up her body in the shower and take her out to eat so she would be well-fed.
