Trick

When his climax faded, Trick caught himself on a straight arm in the bed. After a few panted breaths, he moved her top leg back to the other side of his hips and lowered himself until he was resting between her thighs and pressed against her.

Kissing her lips, he fisted his hands in her hair. His heart was full with the way she responded to him. She didn’t just take it. She pushed back in a sexy, teasing way that made him want to be better, do better. It made him have hope that she would do that in all areas of his life, not just in the bedroom.

That was what he needed. He needed a mate who would challenge him to be the best he could be. Too often, he had witnessed bikers get in a rut with their women and be completely shocked when their Ol’ Lady called it quits because she was tired of her man not trying. He never wanted to be that man. Mates or not, that didn’t guarantee happiness. It only meant that if they got their heads out of their asses, they would be a good fit. He hoped that their date meant that he and Stiletto were on the road to head-ass extraction.

Pulling back just enough to look into her eyes, he asked, “So, what did you think of the movie?”

Stiletto stared up at him for a long moment before she busted out laughing. Trick joined her, dropping his face to her shoulder and letting it roll through him. It was a much-needed light moment after all the heavy.

Stiletto wrapped him up in her arms and legs, and said through a giggle, “Best. Date. Ever.”

After taking a shower together, Trick got Stiletto settled in bed before he set about righting the kitchen and putting his laptop and lap desk away. He was just about to join her in bed when his phone rang on the dresser. After walking over, he checked the screen and sawLittle Bug.

He answered it, putting the phone to his ear. “Little bug?” he asked softly, trying not to wake Stiletto.

“Uncle T?” The sound of her voice sent a wave of love through his system.

“Yeah, it’s me. What’s up?”

“I… I just want to breathe.”

Instantly concerned, but not wanting to talk to his niece while he was naked, Trick uttered, “Give me two secs, Little Bug.” He set the phone down on top of the dresser and quickly pulled on a pair of shorts and a tee. Then he picked the phone back up and made his way out to the front porch. “Okay. Uncle T is here. Ready to breathe?”

“Mmhm.”

“Good. Okay. Here we go. In.” He breathed in, making sure she could hear him. He heard the same from her. “Out.” He exhaled loudly and listened for her to do it. “Good. Again. In.”

They did that a handful of times. Then he asked, “Want to tell me what has my beautiful bug upset?”

“Dad… Jenna never went to the daddy-daughter dance ‘fore, so she went with us. And… It’s stupid.”

“Little bug, if you feel it, it’s not stupid. Tell me.”

She huffed out a sigh and admitted, “He danced with her first, and it made me sad, but I didn’t want to tell him, because it made her happy, and I love Jenna, so I want her to be happy, but it made me sad, and you said I could always tell my dad when I’m sad, but—”

“Mia,” he said, interrupting her rushed explanation. “Little Bug, youcanalways tell your dad what you’re feeling, but it was very kind of you to not ruin Jenna’s night. Now that you’re not at the dance anymore, though, I bet you could talk to your dad, and I bet your dad will do everything he can to make things better.” He cleared his throat to knock out the emotion that was building there. He really wanted to give her a hug, but he was too far away to make the trip. “I tell you what. Why don’t you sleep on it? In the morning, if you’re still sad, ask your dad if you can talk to him.”

“I… I can do that,” she replied, sounding better. She always sounded better after they came up with a plan.

“Good. Now, is my Little Bug ready to close her eyes and sleep? Or does she need to breathe some more?”

“I think I can sleep.”

“Okay. Well, if you can’t, what are you going to do?”

He heard her quiet giggle. “I’m going to call my Uncle T. Duh.”

He chuckled. “Night, Bug.”

“Night, Uncle T.”

He ended the call and immediately called his brother.

“It’s a little late. What’s wrong?” Rock’s rough voice came through as if he was trying to be quiet.

“I know you’re probably in bed, but you should go talk to Mia.”
