“I told you I wouldn’t bow to you,” she hissed, glaring at him.

“Yeah, I know. And any other time, I would think it was fucking sexy, but now? Now I think it’s a damn death wish.” He straightened and took a step back. “What’s it going to be?”

“Fine,” she bit out and stormed toward the cabin. “I’ll get ready.”

“Thank fuck,” he breathed and shook his head.

As he waited for her to get ready, he pulled out his phone and sent the safe number Ordys gave him a text.

TRICK: Going down. T&S. 60.

It took a few minutes, but he got a reply.

ORDYS: No BU

Backup.

TRICK: Negative. 60.

ORDYS: 10-4

After turning off his phone, Trick slid it into the zipper pocket of the black sweatshirt he was wearing over his tee and cut. He probably could have left his cut at the cabin, but he always felt more confident while wearing it.

When Stiletto came out of the cabin wearing much the same as him, with her hair weaved into a braid on the back of her head and a black ballcap in her hand, he asked, “Ready?”

Her reply was a middle finger as she rounded the van and climbed in the passenger seat.

Off to a great start. With a sigh, Trick got in the driver’s seat and started the van.

Axle

Axle was sitting at the bar in the main room of the clubhouse when the call came in. He was surprised that it was from Ordys. Since the dragon shifter entered the academy undercover, their communication had been done through intermediaries.

Turning on the stool, he looked over at Sulien in the far corner of the room as he answered the call. “Ordys?”

Sulien’s head shot up and looked at him, and Axle waved him over. Sulien was their usual intermediary, so he knew he was just as curious about the call as Axle.

“I can’t speak long, so listen.”

Axle let out a whistle to quiet the room as he put the phone on speaker. Sulien stopped at his side, but they were joined by Pike, Skull, and Ranger.

“I’m listening,” Axle said.

“Trick and Stiletto are planning to attack the academy in sixty minutes. From what I understand, they have no backup. Me and my crew were supposed to leave, but I can’t do that to them.”

Axle’s blood started to pump quicker through his veins as he processed what Ordys was saying. Having one of his brothers going into battle without backup was unacceptable and scared the shit out of him.

“You said an hour?”

“Yes.”

“Shit. We’re at least an hour- and a half from there,” he growled.

“I’m not,” Sulien said. “Neither is Steve. We’re faster.”

“Go,” Axle immediately ordered, and the dragon shifter and vampire headed for the door.

“I’m going,” Rock said as he followed Sulien, with Brute on his heels.
