Stiletto snorted a laugh. “I fucking love it.”

“Mine saysAxle’s Ride,” Gorgeous said.

Ruby nodded. “Rebel’s Fairytale.”

They continued to go around the table, each of them calling out what their tattoos said. When they were done, Diamond asked, “What are you going to get? I mean… if you decide to do it. You don’t have to.”

Stiletto shrugged. “I probably will. Sounds kinda fun to me.” She thought about it for a minute, trying to come up with something for her tattoo, but nothing came to her. “Hey Trick!”

Trick was at her side in a couple seconds. “What’s wrong? You in pain?”

She smiled at him. “I’m okay. I was just wondering what you wanted my tattoo to say.”

His eyes flashed gold light before he bent down and put his lips by her ear. “Trick’s Elite, because you’re the best damneverythingI’ve ever had.”

When Darlin’ started whistling, Stiletto remembered what Trick told her about shifter-hearing. She looked over at the woman, and they grinned at each other. “Trick’s Elite, it is.”

Chapter Thirty-One

Stiletto

Twodayslater, whenTrick decided it was time to bring her home to meet his mother, Stiletto thought he had lost his mind. She had woken up in a bad mood. Her wound was itching, but it also hurt, and she was trying to take less of the pain medication. She wanted to wallow in bed, but the man had bribed her with the promise of food.

She was still irritated with him when they arrived at his childhood home. His mother was beautiful and gracious, and Stiletto immediately felt like she was at home. It surprised her that the woman didn’t hate her because of what she’d done in her past, but she didn’t.

“Call me Mama Nia,” Trick’s mother insisted, and patted her on the hand as she relaxed on the woman’s couch with her. “Now, I know how the two of you met. People talk, and this is a small town. But I trust the judgment of my boys… most of the time. If they trust you, I trust you. So, I’m just gonna assume you learned the error of your ways and made some adjustments.”

Stiletto wasn’t about to hide who she was. It was better if the woman knew what she would get from Stiletto right from the start, and that irritation with Trick was still hanging around, so she uttered, “I could have done without being handcuffed for weeks, but yeah, I know I was misinformed about shifters.”

When the wordhandcuffedcame out of her mouth, Mama Nia’s gaze shot to Trick sitting in an armchair across the living room. “What did you do to this poor girl?”

Trick held his hands up in front of him. Stiletto didn’t know if it was a calming gesture or a defensive one. “Ma, listen—”

“Don’t youMa, listenme! You handcuffed her? This girl neededknowledge, and you treat her that way? They should have named you Brute instead of your brother. I raised you better than that, boy. Did Rock and Brute know about this?”

She knew he wasn’t about to rat out his brothers, so she wasn’t surprised when Trick remained silent.

“That’s it. No more peanut butter chocolate fudge bars for you or your brothers,” Mama Nia said, waving a finger at Trick.

Trick’s eyes widened, and his mouth dropped open. “For how long?”

“Until I feel like it!” Then she turned to Stiletto. “I’m so very sorry that he forgot who the hell I raised him to be. Wouldyoulike a peanut butter chocolate fudge bar?”

Stiletto won the battle not to burst out laughing and gave a nod. “I would love that, Ma-Mama Nia.”

The woman patted Stiletto’s hand again as she stood. On her way out of the living room, as she passed Trick, she smacked him against the back of his head.

Once she was gone, Trick moved to sit next to her. He put his mouth by her ear and whispered, “You’re lucky I didn’t tell her about the time you handcuffed me.”

Stiletto couldn’t h anymore. The laugh boiled up and exploded out of her mouth, which was immediately followed by a groan of pain.

“You better stop causing that girl issues, Matthew,” Mama Nia called from the other room, and Trick let out a sigh.

“I love you,” Stiletto said, smiling at him.

He returned her smile and pressed a kiss to her lips. “Love you, too.”

As she waited for her peanut butter chocolate fudge bar, she decided she wasn’t irritated with him after all.
