“Yes, my plan is working well. Her father should be receiving the evidence any time now.”
He chuckles again and then stops when I say urgently,
“Taylor Sutherland. I need answers.”
“The girl minus her heart.”He says cagily and I growl, “Something doesn’t add up. She was with Allegra’s brother before she died, and now he is being blackmailed.”
“Explain.”
I fill him in on what she told me and the long silence on the other end of the line tells me he’s as disturbed as I am.
“Leave it with me. I’ll make some investigations.”He says with a sigh.
“Keep me informed.”
“Stick with the plan, Shade. This changes nothing.”
“I hoped you’d say that.” I laugh softly and he says with an irritated growl,“Remember, she’s business, not pleasure. Ruin the woman and document every sordid step. Bring her father to his knees and expect retaliation.”
“What about Jefferson?”
I remind him of his part of the revenge because Killian is to destroy Judge Stevenson’s legitimate son as part of our revenge on his father.
“I’ve got Gina Di Angelo on the case as a spy. She’s feeding back intelligence that I will use against him.”
“He won’t know what hit him.”
I laugh softly as Killian sighs heavily.“I could do without this fucking shit. I want to take Purity on an overdue honeymoon before the baby arrives.”
“You’ve got eight months, brother.”
“I didn’t tell you how long the vacation would be.”
He laughs into the phone, and I reply, “Tell that to Don Vieri. I’m sure he would have something to say about your wish for an extended vacation.”
In our family, business is everything and any talk of walking away, even for a fucking vacation, is frowned upon. That’s why I chose my boat for this particular pastime. Combining business with pleasure is the smart thing to do. Everyone’s happy, except my victim at the end of it but at least she will have fun in the meantime.
As I think about her currently in the shower, I say with a sigh, “Anyway, duty calls, brother. I have an angel to break. I’ll keep you posted.”
“Spare me the details. Just make sure her father suffers.”
He cuts the call, leaving me safe in the knowledge he will have all the details we need before we head back to the city. Whoever is attempting to blackmail my victim had better watch their back because we don’t like to share. She’s mine to break, and I will enjoy every second of it.
CHAPTER13
ALLEGRA
This is pure heaven. As the power shower hits the spot, it washes away the night of sin I wallowed in. I loved it. Every single moment and if you told me this time yesterday, I would be here today, I would never have believed it. I wonder what Cecilia is thinking. I left her at Gyration and for all she knows I’m missing, presumed dead. She must be out of her mind with worry. I should call her, but what would I say?
Sorry I left you, but I was whisked away to a mafia yacht and wined and dined before being fucked senseless. How was your night?
It makes me giggle and I jump when I hear an amused, “Somebody’s happy.”
I turn to see Shade leaning against the doorjamb, casting his appreciative gaze over the length of my body as I rub the soap all over me. He looks so deliciously hot I just gawp at him, and then as he enters the bathroom, he closes the door firmly behind him, shrugging out of his polo shirt and stepping out of his shorts.
My eyes widen at the sight before me because I never did get to appreciate the body of a man who apparently enjoys the gym as a hobby.
