I get my mind back into the business at hand and say with interest, “What did she find?”

“That it wasn’t his phone.”

I sit up and pay attention.

“Who’s phone was it?”

“A burner.”

“Any details?”

I’m intrigued and Kill says roughly,“There is only one number on the contact list and it belongs to your current victim.”

“Is that right?”

My mood suddenly switches to dark mode, and I hiss, “Any history?”

“Creepy as fuck texts. Stalker type things. Pictures of her taken when she’s around town. Some of her at the gym, out running and on the town.”

“Send them to me.” I’m enraged and Killian says firmly,“I’ll send you the screen shots, but it appears her cousin Jefferson either has an unhealthy interest in her or knows someone who does.”

“What’s the plan?”

“Wrap up your business, go in for the kill, and then send her home. Watch what happens when the shit hits the fan and who knows, we may even kill two birds with one shot.”

“Fuck!”

I sink back in my seat, my earlier good mood evaporating rapidly. “I hate this shit.”

Killian chuckles.“What’s the matter bro? Are you having too much fun?”

“Fuck you, boss.” I say sarcastically and he rewards me by cutting the call.

As I stare at the texts on Allegra’s phone, I am livid inside. I’m not sure why I’m angry, but I am.

The thought of wrapping this up isn’t sitting well with me because the grand finale isn’t something I want anymore. When I think of the final degradation that should be days away, I can’t even bring myself to make the call.

More to distract my mind, I reach for her phone and type in a response to her mom’s texts.

Allegra

Fuck you!

I smile at the phone, imagining her expression when she receives it.

I replay the video and love watching Allegra’s pretty face full of desire for what I am doing. She is so amazing and so gorgeous. Like a rare butterfly unusually seen in the wild.

I experience a surge of longing to be inside her. To stroke that soft skin and inhale her sweet scent. There is so much I want to do with her—to her and being told to wrap this up isn’t helping with that.

Ruin and return. That was my mission. So, why don’t I want to finish what I started?

CHAPTER18

ALLEGRA

The bed dips, which is the only indication I’m not alone. It appears that Shade can creep up on you when you least expect it and I should know, he has a habit of doing that with me.

I keep my eyes tightly closed as the sheets are pulled back, exposing my body to the cool air conditioning, loving how his hand slides against my skin, causing flutters inside that only he can create.
