I laughed. “Say whatever you were going to say.”

“I was going to say ‘I told you so.’ I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist the hot ad exec.”

“He’s not an exec. Nowhere near.”

She shrugged. “Still, I was right.” I crumpled up a sticky note and tossed it at her head. “Hey!”

“That’s what you get for bragging that you’re right.”

Faith stuck her tongue out at me and laughed again. “It’s going to be too quiet around here without you while you’re on vacation.”

“Has it been quiet without me these last few weeks? I mean, since I’ve been taking so much time off and all.”

“Not really. But you’re taking Thursday and Friday off this week and all of next week for your honeymoon. What am I supposed to do without you for seven working days?”

I shuffled some papers around. “I think you’ll manage. Besides, you’re coming to the wedding, right?” She nodded. “Good, then you won’t have to miss me that long.” I hesitated a beat and then I looked at Faith again. “Can I tell you something?”

She nodded sincerely, eyebrows raised. “Always. Anything.”

“You’re not going to report me to HR for sexual harassment or anything, are you?”

She half-shrugged and crossed her legs. “You’re not going to sexually harass me, are you?” She uncrossed her legs and leaned forward. “Actually, what’s the gossip? Tell me everything.”

“Fine,” I said with a sigh. “Parker and I… we sort of…”

“Oh my God, you didn’t! You went all the way with him?”

My cheeks heated as I looked down at the papers on my desk. “Not… completely. Just, you know, part of the way.”

“Wow,” she murmured. “How was it? No, wait, that’s none of my business.” She waited a beat. “No, seriously, how was it?”

I buried my face in my hands and laughed a little before meeting her piercing gaze and putting my hands down. “It was great. Like, better-than-I-expected great. I don’t know what I was expecting, but he far exceeded that.”

“Oh, I’m so excited for you!”

I rolled my eyes, trying desperately not to think about the fact that I’d just told a coworker about my sex life—no matter how close a friend she was. “Thanks, I think.”

“Now what? Are you going to give it up before the wedding? Do you even have plans toseeeach other before the wedding?”

“Of course we do. We’re driving out to Mountainview together Friday.”

“Okay,” she said dryly. “Your beat-up pickup is not exactly a prime location to lose your virginity.”

I shrugged. “It wouldn’t be the worst place. But we’re not taking my truck, anyway. We’re taking his car. Mine isn’t exactly reliable.”

“Good plan. So his four-door sedan isn’t really a good place either. Are you two going to do it at the farm the night before?” She clasped her hands together. “Oh, under the stars. That would be so romantic.”

“Probably not. It’s cold out there at night.”

“Another good point. So when are you going to, you know, seal the deal?”

“Probably our wedding night.”

“Ew.” She wrinkled her nose. “Sex is important. You don’t want to wait until after you’re legally married to be sure you’re compatible.”

“It’s a little late to be deciding this, isn’t it?”

She sighed. “You’re probably right. So what’s your plan?”
