We spendthe drive to Nick's house, listening to the radio while his hand rests on mine. My eyes keep traveling to the green diamond that sparkles every time sunlight hits it. I'm getting married!

Nick turns onto his large driveway, and I'm surprised to see four other cars parked there.

“Nick, what is happening? Why are there construction workers here?"

"Oh, they're building something." He jumps out of his car and holds out his hand. Hand in hand, we walk towards his front door.

"You haven't told me you were having construction work done."

"Ah, Nick, right in time." A large older construction worker walks over to us, his smile wide as he approaches us.

"Did it rain?" he asks with a curious glance at Nick's shirt and pants.

"Yeah, but it was very local," he replies, squeezing my hand.

"Paul, this is my fiancée, Emma."

The man gives me a proper smile, and sticks out his large hand.

"Oh, so you're the lucky lady. Hello Emma, I'm Paul. It's nice to meet you," he says, shaking my hand.

"What are you building here, Paul?” I ask.

The two men exchange a glance with each other.

"It's practically finished. She can go in," Paul says, smiling.

"Excellent, let's go. I may have hidden another minor surprise for you."

"What?"

Paul chuckles and walks inside, leaving me alone with Nick.

"Angel, I need you to close your eyes."

I inspect him. His expression is full-on excited as he squeezes my hand.

"I think you surprised me enough with this," I say, holding up my ring.

He shows me a toothy smile.

"Oh, it's the last one today."

I give in and close my eyes, and let him guide me through the house. The sound of men talking raises my nervousness. What's going on here? Paul’s voice tells people to take a break, and the sound of retreating footsteps makes me alert. Five steps later, Nick's voice whispers in my ear.

"Open your eyes and tell me what you think."

My lashes part, and my brain is struggling to make sense of what they perceive. My mouth drops as I take in the most luxurious kitchen I've ever seen. The walls are a light sand color with a soft, fresh, spring-green tint, and there's a huge window with a view of the garden. Another wall is full of cabinets and built-in luxurious stainless steel appliances: a steamer, an oven, and XXL American freezer and fridge. There's even a built-in coffee machine. In the center is a large kitchen island. The quartz countertops are a mocha brown color, and the cabinets are a very soft taupe tint. Together with the light sand and spring green on the walls, it oozes freshness and professionalism. Then my eyes tear up when they land on the text that's on the wall next to the window. In curvaceous letters, it states; Simply Irresistible, and it ends with a painted chocolate muffin.

"So what do you think of Simply Irresistible's new kitchen? Can you do your baking here?"

My head shifts to Nick, who shows me that enigmatic smile of his. "I know you need a bigger kitchen and you're too modest to ask me to help you. So I took it upon myself and my duty as your future husband to help."

"But Nick, this is too much," I express, pointing to the room.

"You don't like it?"

"What? I love it," I say, wandering through the room. “This is every baker's wet dream for kitchens."
