Time to change the bed subject.

"Okay, sweetheart, why don't we go to the kitchen and make breakfast for Nick?"

Right away, her eyes sparkle, and she jumps up. "Do you like pancakes?"

"I love pancakes," he says.

"Yes!" She rolls off the bed, runs towards me, grabs my hands, and pulls me out of the bedroom. "Come on, Mommy, let's make pancakes."

I chuckle at her enthusiasm.

"Don't be late, Giant," she yells. I twist my head, and the sight of Nick sitting in my bed, brushing through his hair, is a picture-worthy moment. Our eyes connect, and I blush when he sends me a sexy wink. God, I've got an Adonis in my bed.

Ten minutes later, Nick walks into the kitchen, and my breath hitches. Charlotte is watching TV and not yet aware of his presence. He strolls over to me and stands behind me, my skin tingling as he gets closer.

"Good morning, gorgeous." His chiseled jaw touches my skin as he places his lips on my neck.

"G... Good morning."

The sound of my ringing phone startles me. He steps back, and I walk to the table and answer.

"Emma," I say. "Hey, hello, Diana." I listen to her and smile when I understand why she's calling.

"Let me ask her.” I lower my phone and glance over at Charlotte, who entered the kitchen.

"Sweetheart, Dian asks if you want to go with her and Ella to the swimming pool."

Charlotte jumps up. "Yes, yes. Can I go?"

"Sure, no problem."

Diana offers to pick her up in a half-hour, and I agree. When I hang up, Charlotte is speaking to Nick.

"Can you swim, Giant?"

"Yes, I can," he says.

"Do you like to swim? I love it, especially the slide." She runs through the kitchen, imitating how fast she can go on a slide.

"Okay, Miss Chatterbox," I cut in. "It's time to get changed. Why don't you put on your swimsuit, so you don't have to change anymore? Diana will be here in thirty minutes, and you have to get dressed, brush your teeth, and comb your hair."

She rushes off to her bedroom while still making splashing sounds. Nick laughs as she runs out of the kitchen.

Thirty minutes later, a car's honk lets loose, and I walk her to the car. Ella is in the same class as Charlotte, and they play together often. Diana explains she'll take them to a fast food place afterward, to eat fries.

"Send me a text when you're coming back," I say. Diana nods and takes off.

After waving as she leaves, I walk back into the house. Nick is standing with his back against the counter.

"So that was a little unexpected," I say.

He eyes me up and down. "Missing your girl already, aren't you?"

"Maybe a little."

He makes his way over to me, grabs me by my hips, and gives me a sweet kiss on my forehead. "You're adorable, just like your daughter."

I place my hands on his chest. "Really? You find me adorable? It sounds a little lame."
