"Hey there, Smarty. How was school?" he asks while hugging her.
"Good," she gushes as he puts her down. She gives me a quick hug before returning her attention to him. “What are you doing here?”
I grab her hand. “Nick is going to visit his parents, and asked me if you and I wanted to come with him.”
"Really?"
When she sees him nod, she turns back to me. "Please, Mommy, please tell me you said yes."
I laugh. "If you say yes, we will drive over there right now."
She jumps up. "Yes, yes, yes." Her happy answer bellows through the air.
"Then let's go, Smarty."
We turn and walk to the car, and as we do, Charlotte grabs both our hands. I look up at Nick, who's glancing at me for what I believe is the same reason. We both smile and continue making our way to the car.
