Samantha looks at us. "You two make a perfect couple," she says, while taking a seat behind the piano. "So this makes me the third Walker generation, sitting on this bench and playing this piano?"

Touched she called herself a Walker, I nod.

"Sam, can I ask something?" Alisha asks.

"Sure."

"When we were driving to work, we listened to a beautiful piano piece. Do you know how to play it?"

Samantha nods. "Yeah."

Alisha grabs my hands and squeezes it. "Oh, you will love it."

I place a kiss on top of her head. As Samantha prepares herself, a flood of old images flashes through me. But instead of tormenting me, I can see them as what they are, memories.

Samantha glances at us from the corner of her eye and says, "I wrote this piece two years ago, and it’s called, ‘Where Are You?’"

She presses on the first keys, and I close my eyes as soft, melodious tones stream through the room. I listen to the story she’s telling me, and when the melody increases in tone and volume, something deep in the structure of my being gets touched, and it causes a massive rupture in the wall I've had around me for so long. Deep emotions come to the surface, and when the song ends, I open my eyes and walk over to her. I cup her face in my palms and say from the depths of my being. "I heard you, and I’m here, Sam."

Her eyes get watery as she nods.

"This piece was virtuous and vibrant with emotions. It shows you master the piano with a talent that is extraordinary. And the fact you composed this yourself is mind-blowing."

I wipe a tear from her chin. "From now on, this piano is for you to use whenever you want."

More tears leave her eyes as my words land. "Are you serious?"

"Yes, you’re a Walker. And someone with your talent deserves to play on this beauty. I’m so proud of you. And I can tell you that your grandfather would be ecstatic, knowing his granddaughter can play and compose like this."

A smile spreads over her face.

"Do you want to stay here and play for a while?" I ask.

"Yes, can I?"

"Of course. Alisha and I will get ourselves a coffee."

Alisha nods. "Thanks, Dad."

A radiant smile spreads across her face as she turns and plays.

Without a word, I take Alisha's hand, and with piano music swirling in the air, we walk through the house. Pure happiness and peace rush through me, and it feels amazing. If I could, I would bottle these emotions like a perfume and use it every day. These two women have enriched my life and changed my inner world in ways I never thought possible.

Alisha stops me as we enter the kitchen, by stepping in front of me and placing her palm on my chest. When she gives me the come here motion with her index finger, I obey with a grin. Her bright irises shine with naughtiness as I come closer, and when I’m close enough, she swirls her arms around my neck and goes straight for my lips. Her kiss is core-melting.I need her closer.

"Cole, what are you doing?" She chuckles against my lips as I lift her off the ground and place her behind on the kitchen table. She sets her hands behind her and leans back, cocking a brow at me as I step between her legs. I lean in and place both my hands beside her.

"I’m..."

We glance at each other as both our phones go off.

"For fuck’s sake!" I mutter.

Alisha chuckles, glancing at her phone. "It’s Emma."

I grab mine and show her the screen. "And I’ve got her husband."

"Let’s answer because they will not stop bothering us," Alisha suggests.
