I roll my eyes, but when Alisha answers, I grab it out of her hands and say, "A moment, Emma, I need to say something to your friend."

I cover the microphone so Emma can’t eavesdrop. "Keep this Saturday free. If you have something, cancel it. We’re going on a date. You and me. No phones, no interference, am I clear?"

She licks her lips and grins. "Bring it on, Cole Walker, I’m ready."

ALISHA

"No peeking,Samantha. Keep your eyes closed."

I chuckle, catching the huff leaving the teenager's lips as her father guides her through the hallway. When he settles her in the correct place, we step back.

"Okay, open."

Samantha's lashes part, and a second later, she glances at us with raised brows.

"Why are we in front of Alisha’s apartment?" she asks.

"Open up and find out," Cole says with a smirk.

Samantha turns the key I've placed in the door and pushes it open. First comes the high-pitched shriek, followed by her rushing at rocket-speed towards the girl standing in the middle of the living room.

Cole and I smile at the sight of the reunion of best friends. They hug and jump like two connected bouncing balls on my colored rug. When they've calmed down, Samantha is the first to speak.

"Oh my god, what are you doing here? How did you get here?"

Rachel chuckles. "Your father called my mother, asking if she would agree with me coming to Boston to visit you. He paid for my flight, and Alisha picked me up and brought me here."

Samantha runs to Cole and hugs him tight. "Thank you so much."

When she lets go of him, she launches herself at me with tear-covered cheeks.

"You deserve it, honey," I say, grabbing her hands and squeezing them. "And to make it even better, you two can stay here until Sunday, while I'm staying with Cole."

Samantha jumps back and stares at me with an agape mouth. "Are you serious?"

"Yes. I thought you two could use some quality time. I trust both of you not to turn my apartment upside down or do illegal things. So... I've stocked the refrigerator with drinks, the cabinet is full of chocolate chip cookies and other snacks. Feel free to use my Netflix account if you want to watch movies or a series."

Both girls’ faces beam with an ear-to-ear smile, but when Cole raises his finger and speaks in a direct, serious voice, both young ladies give him their full attention.

"I want you two to promise me two things. One, if anything is wrong, you call us. And two, if you want to go somewhere, you tell us before you go."

"Don't worry, we'll stay here. We have so much to talk about," Rachel says, and I grin at the admiring puppy dog eyes she gives Cole.

Samantha nods. "We're going to hold aVampire Diariesmarathon, so we don't have time to leave this place.”

Cole raises a brow and shrugs when both girls clap in their hands while squealing with content.

"Okay, have fun, girls," I say, while pulling Cole out of the apartment.

I smile when Rachel's cheeks blush as Samantha gives her a shoulder bump when she keeps staring at her dad.

As we walk through the hall, I brush my hand over his arms. "So, what are we going to do?" I ask.

Without warning, Cole shoves my back against the wall and forcefully claims my lips. I love how his kisses push every thought to the side. He pulls away and lets his mouth linger above mine.

"I have a surprise for you."
