Butch put his hat back on. “I guess you’d better go on up to the house. Toby’ll be wondering where you’ve got to.”

Sol nodded. He slung his backpack once more over his shoulder, and picked up his bag. “You have a good life, Butch Buchanan.” He smiled. “Find yourself a good man—or woman. It’s never too late to grab onto some happiness.” And with that, he pushed the barn door open and stepped out into the sunlight.

Butch stood rooted to the spot.

I thought I’d finally found it.

Except that was a pipe dream, and he knew it. Sol could never be in his life.

He knew where the bodies were buried.

“Robert and I discussed your idea,” Toby said as he pulled up outside the Baxter Hotel.

“Hmm?” Sol had been aware of Toby talking during the ride, but not much of what he’d said had sunk in.

Sol’s mind was still in that barn, gazing down at Butch on his knees, sliding his dick between Butch’s lips, hearing him moan. He could still feel Butch’s hair beneath his fingertips, taste his cum, smellhim, for God’s sake…

“Your idea about the cabin? We’ve decided to go ahead with it. We’ll share the proposal at the next ranch supper.”

“That’s great,” he murmured.

Toby’s laugh filled the truck. “Your enthusiasm is overwhelming.”

Sol abhorred rudeness in others—there was no way he’d tolerate it in himself.

“Sorry. I guess my mind is someplace else.”

“Orwithsomeone else,” Toby observed.

Sol fired him a warning glance. “Stop that right now.” He held his backpack against him. “You’re happy with the site?”

“God yes. You really delivered. Robert says to email him with your invoice.”

Sol frowned. “Hey, you paid for my stay, remember?”

“Yeah, and then you lost a whole day putting it all together. You worked like a Trojan yesterday.”

“I hope the bookings start rolling in. I added the link to two or three BDSM forums, by the way, not to mention a kink message board.”

Toby beamed. “Thank you.”

Sol glanced at the clock on the dash. “I’d better go. The shuttle will be here any minute.”

“Therewasone last thing I wanted to mention.”

As long as it isn’t Butch.

“What?”

“September twenty-fourth… why don’t you come back for the opening? We’d love it if you could.”

“Toby, I—”

“Don’t say no right away. At least say you’ll think about it, you know, like you did last time?” His eyes twinkled. “Then I’ll wear you down until you say yes. And you can bring a guest with you.”

“That assumes Ihavesomeone to bring with me.”

“Hey, that’s fine. We got our first booking this morning—a single guy—and the site hasn’t even been up for twenty-four hours. I call that a success.” He paused.
