Adriene smiled weakly and stabbed a fork at her food. “I guess. I just feel like I wasn’t at my best today.”

“Look, if it’s still bothering you tomorrow, talk to him.”

“I wouldn’t want to waste his time.”

This was Adriene’s first time working for Peter and only her fourth film ever. Peter had cast her in a much larger role than any of her previous parts. It was natural that she felt nervous.

“You wouldn’t be,” Stacy said. “He’s easy to talk to. I’m sure he’d rather you let him know that something was bothering you than if you didn’t.”

Tessa could see Adriene still wasn’t convinced. “How about this? We can talk to him together. I’ll tell him I wasn’t sure about the scene I did and ask him if it turned out okay. That should make it easier for you to bring up your concerns.”

“No, I don’t want to drag you into this.”

“You wouldn’t be. I’m offering.”

Adriene bit her lower lip. “Are you sure?”

“I wouldn’t have suggested it if I wasn’t.”

Adriene finally allowed herself to smile. “That would be great. Thank you. I owe you big time.”

“You can pay me back by doing the same for someone else once you become a big star.”

“If that happens, I will.”

“Not if.When.”

Logan rested a forearm on the table and leaned forward, a smirk on his face. “When I was starting out, I questioned everything I did.”

One of Tessa’s eyebrows shot up. “You can remember that far back?”

Stacy snorted and quickly covered her mouth. “Sorry.”

He gave them each a dramatic scowl, then continued as if Tessa hadn’t spoken. “There was this one picture,The Swedish Ambassador. You must have seen it. Everyone did. I played...”

Tessa tuned him out. Logan was nice, and a fine actor, but the man had yet to meet a topic of conversation he couldn’t make about himself.

She let her gaze drift across the room.

The restaurant had five tables and four booths, all currently occupied. Not surprising, given how delicious the food was.

Tessa caught several of the other diners glancing at her table and then away again. She should be used to the attention by now, but it still caught her by surprise. The price of fame, as they say.

The only diner not interested in her and her companions was a man sitting alone by the window, reading a book while he ate.

She watched him for a moment, wondering what the book’s title was, then turned back to her friends.

Unsurprisingly, Logan was still talking.

“It’s not every day a star like Todd Normancompliments you. He even said there’d be a part for me in any movie he was in, if I wanted it.”

“Have you taken him up on that?” Adriene asked.

“Not yet. I like to spread my wings. Work with different people. It gives me more options.”

“I guess that makes sense.”

Tessa laughed. “He’s lying. If Todd Norman called and said he had a role for him in his next picture, Logan would snap it up without even asking how many lines he’d have.”
