Don’t ever let them take you to a second location.

I wasn’t well known for being smart, but fuck, I was scrappy when I needed to be.

And right now, it was needed.

I had a plan.

I just needed a moment to enact it.

I knew where we were. I’d walked around the site in the dark the night Kian had brought me here.

I just needed to get us out there.

Just needed one lucky break to set the wheels in motion.

A weird thrill of excitement buzzed through my veins. It wasn’t quite enough to knock the fear away, but it kind of mixed with it, making me sharp.

“What are you smiling for?” Caleb complained, catching a glimpse of my face as he paced back and forth, checking his expensive watch. “You do realize you’re about to be put on a truck with a bunch of other whores and sold like cattle?”

I didn’t say anything.

“I cannot wait to cash in on the two of you and never see either of you again.” He glanced over at Bliss. “Shame you won’t get to tell your psychopath boyfriend all about it.”

Though I saw the panic flare in her eyes, I gave Bliss credit for staring at Caleb like she was bored stupid.

“How’s those letters he carved in your chest, Caleb? What did they spell again? Oh, that’s right. My name.” She laughed in a manner that was definitely Scythe-ish. “You’ll never be rid of me, Caleb. You’ll think of me every time you look in the mirror.”

Caleb scowled at her as his phone rang, and he walked away to take the call.

I nudged her with my elbow. “I’m so fucking proud of you right now. I’d high-five you if my hands weren’t tied behind my back.”

She gazed at me with watery eyes. “I’m so scared I might pee myself.”

Despite the situation, I grinned. “No, you won’t. You’re too badass for that.”

She gave me a weak smile. “You see how badass your pelvic floor is when you’re this pregnant.”

I couldn’t wait.

Caleb ended his call and barked orders at his goons. “There’s another car bringing more women for pickup. Go get them and bring them in.”

The two men nodded and hightailed it out of the room.

Caleb turned his smug gaze back on us. “I had a quota to deliver on. You two are just the cherries on top of the cake, hand-delivered to me by your boyfriend’s mother. I mean, really, if you’re going to blame anyone, it should be Vaughn. He blabbed all my secrets in front of his mom so she knew exactly who to call when she wanted her new daughter-in-law to disappear. ‘Don’t kill her,’” he mocked, in a posh, feminine voice. “She just can’t be near my precious baby boy.’” Caleb sniggered. “Truly, that phone call was so embarrassing. I wish I’d recorded it so I could play it for Vaughn.”

I raised an eyebrow at him. “Like he’s the only one with mommy issues around here.”

The look Caleb shot me was as cold as glass. It only made me want to needle him more. I was clearly getting under his skin.

But a walkie-talkie on Caleb’s belt crackled to life, and Goon Two’s voice came down the line. “Boss, we got a couple of fighters. Gonna need an extra set of hands to get ’em in.”

Caleb stared at the ceiling. “For fuck’s sake.” He focused on me. “You try anything, and I’ll go after every single one of your sisters. Including that sweet little eight-year-old. What was her name again? Bobbie? Brady?” He grabbed the hair on the top of my head and yanked it back. “That’s right. I know every single one of your weaknesses, Rebel. You think I don’t know your sister is hiding at your father’s farm with her bastard baby? I know. I know fucking everything.”

“Because you’re bigger and better than everyone, Caleb. You are a god. Blah, blah, fucking blah.” Bliss was still running with her boredom act.

I used it to my advantage, seeing an opening. “Bliss! Stop it. He’s talking about my sisters! Just do as you’re told.”

Her brows furrowed in confusion because she knew me well enough to know something wasn’t right.
