One quick lunge, and it would be in my hands.

It would hurt like fucking hell.

My ribs were already screaming this was the worst idea ever.

And yet, I was going to do it anyway.

“You’re so full of shit,” War told Hawk. “I’ve seen the way you stare at Kara. You have the hots so fucking bad.”

I froze at the mention of Kara’s name.

So did Hawk.

War smirked. “Told you.”

Hawk shook his head. “Fine. She’s gorgeous. All ass and tits.” He groaned. “What I wouldn’t give to have her down on her knees, fingering her sweet pussy while she sucks my cock—”

They both turned in my direction.

It was only then that I became aware of the deep growl I was making and the rage coursing through my blood at the thought of another man looking at her. “Don’t fucking talk about her like that.”

The words were low. Guttural. Full of violence.

Hawk raised an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”

“You fucking heard me. Don’t talk about her like that.”

Hawk laughed, sauntering from his worktable to stand in the middle of the two beds War and I lay on. He peered down at me, crossing his arms over his broad chest. “Gotta crush on our new club girl, do we there, Chaos? Little bit jealous she was up there, showing me all those pretty curves, making me think about her riding my fat cock with her tits bouncing in my face?”

I couldn’t stand it. I sat up, slowly swinging my legs over the edge of the bed. It was about all the energy I had, but it brought us closer to eye height. “I said, don’t fucking talk about her like that.”

Hawk got in my face. “Or what, Sinner? What are you going to do? You’re nothing but a wannabe gangbanger who wanted to be a Slayer but knew you weren’t good enough.”

I shot a look at War. I don’t know why I was surprised he’d told him my story. But it pissed me off anyway.

Hawk chuckled. “Yeah, he told me your sob story, how you wanted to be one of us, but life led you down the wrong path, blah, blah, blah.”

He slapped the side of my face twice, both times condescendingly. “Sorry you couldn’t cut it, little boy. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Kara is very well taken care of for you.”

There was so much anger coiled inside me I was sure I was vibrating with it. If someone had asked, I couldn’t have even explained why. I barely knew Kara. I’d spent a matter of days in her company.

Yet, something deep inside me had already claimed her. It had claimed her from the minute I’d laid eyes on her. And again when she’d stared at me with big, vulnerable eyes that begged me to help her deliver her baby safely into the world.

There was a bond there that was instant and binding. It had a grip on me I couldn’t shake. She’d been so vulnerable, and all I wanted was to protect her.

Hawk so much as muttering her name made me want to murder him.

War cleared his throat, obviously tired of this conversation. “Knock it off, the both of you.”

But Hawk was on a roll, enjoying his mini power trip. He trailed his fingers along the edge of my bed. “Should have seen her tonight, Chaos.” He made the ‘chef’s kiss’ motion, touching his fingers to his lips then flicking them open to the air. “The dress swung around her hips, and fuck me, they’re so grabbable. Front of it was all low-cut, tits spilling over, perfect fucking handfuls plus some.” He groaned.

I couldn’t bear it. In my mind’s eye, I saw everything he described. Kara in a long dress that accentuated every curve, her hair brushed out and glossy, nothing like it had been the last time I’d seen her.

I fucking hated he’d seen her like that. Hated that I hadn’t.

Hawk turned to War. “Get a load of this guy, fucking thrumming so hard I could use him as a vibrator.”

Hawk had his Slayers cut on, the leather vest embroidered with their logo, but it was caught up at the back.
