“I’m not too good at relationships,” I reply, rubbing my forehead.

Drake lets out a loud laugh. “You can’t be worse than I was.”

“So how do you go from no relationship to a relationship with two people?” I ask.

He shrugs. “Fuck, I don’t know. We just…love the fuck out of each other. We get on each other’s nerves and fight and fuck and laugh and then do it all over again the next day.”

“Can I ask…” Hunter says. His brow is furrowed, and I appreciate the sincerity on his face. I’ve always related best to Hunter. He’s serious and straightforward. A man of few words, he never beats around the bush or makes things complicated.

I nod at his request to ask more about my relationship.

“Is it serious?”

“No,” I reply too quickly. “I mean…yes. A little.”

Right? I don’t plan on being with Jade and Clay forever. Do I? We’re just having fun.

It can’t betooserious. We’re just dating. I’ll never get married again. I’ll never be so codependent on another person for the rest of my life. Living in a motel for three weeks will change a person.

So, no. It’s not that level of seriousness.

Although my feelings for them are serious. I care about both of them immensely. So much my chest feels full and almost painful at the thought of them. The same way I sometimes feel when I look at Jack. It’s amazing and terrifying at the same time.

But things with Jade and Clay together just started. I only met Jade a few weeks ago. How could we be making a commitment already?

But it feels significant in the sense that nothing has ever completely flipped my entire life on its head—not since Jack was born, and that is certainly very serious.

“You sure about that?” Drake asks with a cunning grin on his face when he notices me reeling from such a simple question.

Hunter’s expression is sympathetic. Surely that can’t be a good sign.

Which can only mean one thing. Things with Jade and Clay are a lot more serious than I want to admit.

Fuck.

“You okay?” Hunter asks, but when I open my mouth to speak, I’m interrupted by a chipper voice behind me.

“Hunter, I just sent the VIP numbers—” Garrett stops when he sees me sitting in one of the chairs in Hunter’s office. “Hey…Madame.” He shoots me a wink and a mischievous smile.

“Hey, Garrett,” I reply with a wave.

“Quite the performance the other day in the voyeur hall,” he says flippantly.

I give him a snarky smile. “I fondly remember you giving a similar one last year.”

He holds up his left hand, the gold band shining in the office light. “Turned out well for me.”

I don’t bother replying to that, not when Hunter and Drake just cornered me into realizing just how significant things might be with Jade and Clay.

He steps into the office, taking the other empty chair next to me. “So…checking out your new office?”

My lips press into a tight line to hide my smile as I look toward the empty desk in the back. “I’m not really the office type…”

Garrett leans in. “But…”

I can’t fight the excitement that’s creeping up as I think about it. “But I doubt I’ll be in here much anyway, right? I’m sure I’ll be working more out there.”

Hunter smacks his desk. “That means you’re taking it?”
