“I can just bring them to you now,” Martha said, taking a step inside.

“No!” Dyllan said, louder and more firmly than he intended. He steadied his voice and continued. “Thank you, but no. Please leave them on your desk.”

Martha huffed, and with one last glance, she gave a curt nod and backed out the door, closing it loudly behind her.

Dyllan waited a moment to make sure Martha was truly gone before he looked down at his wife as she smiled around his dick. Her red lipstick smeared all over him as she sucked harder. “You’re going to pay for that, wife.”

Her only response was a laugh around his dick that sent him over the edge. Threading his hands through her hair, he held her in place, thrusting into the back of her throat. He smiled to himself as she gagged on him, but still accepted every drop of him as he came down her throat.

Slipping out from her mouth, he smiled at her as he used his thumbs to wipe off the smudged lipstick from around her lips.

Skylar looked up at him, licking her lips with a smirk, “Worth it.”

Chapter Nineteen

Skylar

“Don’t worry about it; they’re going to be happy for you. For us.” Dyllan said as he squeezed her hand.

She looked up at the tall wooden doors of the Logan Creek Brewing Company, feeling like she was about to meet a firing squad. Running her thumb along the rings that now sat on her left hand, she tried her best to calm herself with deep breaths.

“Hey,” Dyllan said, turning her to him. “It’s going to be fine. You’re worrying too much.”

She closed her eyes as he lowered his forehead to hers. She focused on how his skin felt against hers, his smoky-woodsy scent, and the way his calloused hands felt against her own.

Running her thumb along his wedding ring, she loved that he wore a symbol that showed he belonged to her. Knowing that rooted and calmed her and let her take her first deep breath since everyone had found out.

“Okay, I can do this,” she said as she stood up straighter, giving him a weak smile.

“I know you can, babydoll.” He gave her a wink as he pulled open the doors of the brewery and led her in.

Shaking her hands at her sides, she let out a breath as she crossed the threshold. Tyler Rich’s, ‘Better Than You’re Used To’ played through the speakers, making her smile. The smooth song mixed with Dyllan’s hand on the small of her back comforted her as they made their way through the tables toward their friends.

Sitting at a few tables pushed together near the empty stage, Skylar watched as they laughed and drank, so happy and carefree. She wondered if maybe her thoughts and fears were baseless. She wished she would’ve been able to tell Kade face-to-face instead of her finding out through Brody’s group chat, but there wasn’t anything she could do to change that now.

“You’re thinking too much again,” Dyllan growled in her ear as he pushed her forward.

“Easy for you to say; you already know your friends are cool with our marriage,” Skylar shot back, not taking her eyes off the table ahead of her.

“They’re our friends, babydoll, and all of them are happy for us. I promise.”

Closing the distance to the table, everyone jumped up and shouted, giving hugs and handshakes as they joined them.

“Congratulations!” Kade said, pulling Skylar into a big hug. “I wish you would’ve told me when it happened, but I understand why.” Her voice was low, only Skylar was able to hear, which she appreciated.

“I’m so sorry, Kade. I really wanted to tell you.”

“I know.” Kade pulled back, searching her face. For what? Skylar didn’t know. “Are you happy?”

Skylar smiled. “I am.”

“Then that’s all that matters.”

Following Kade to the table, she gave Mandy and Lila quick hugs while saying hi to their men. Sitting in the empty seat next to Dyllan, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief knowing he was there and had her back, no matter what. These were his friends too, but she was his wife, and in the short time they’d been together, she’d come to realize just how important that made her to him.

“Let’s see it!” Lila reached across the table, wiggling her fingers.

Skylar laughed as she placed her left hand in Lila’s as all the girls squealed. The diamonds shone in the overhead lights, seemingly even more dramatic in the dimmed room around them.
