“You know, you could take some tips from your younger brother. He’s a lot more charming than you,” I tease at the same time Kyle wraps me in his arms, and we begin swaying to the slow song that starts to play.

He quirks an eyebrow. “Do I have to mess up my brother’s movie star good looks to get you to stop looking at him?”

“Please don’t. What if Townsend Industries goes belly up, and you need him to keep acting to support your entire family?”

He huffs. “My stubborn wife owns her own company and refuses to come and work for the family business. We’ll get by on her income.”

Laughing, I lay my head against his shoulder. I let Kyle move our bodies to the rhythm of the music while I watch the dozens of family members, friends, and business associates around the room.

I wave at Sharonda, who’s DJing the second half of our reception. She blows us a kiss.

Family.

That’s the only word I can think of when I look around the room. My eyes land on my mother-in-law. Her smile is a mile wide. I suspect she’s even happier than Kyle and me. Wherever my mother-in-law is, my father-in-law is never too far behind. He wraps her up from behind and looks on at this son and me.

He’s a hard man to read, but I suspect he approves of our union. Kyle’s siblings, cousins, uncles, and grandparents all join in on the dancing.

“Your parents aren’t going to dance?” I ask, lifting my head.

Kyle snorts. “My mother wants to spare her toes for a little while longer. My father dances like shit. Thiers inherited that lack of talent from him.”

I glance over to find Kyle’s youngest brother, and twin to Andreas, holding up against the wall in his tuxedo. He’s on leave from the military to attend our wedding. Even from this distance, I can make out the sadness in Thiers’ eyes. While they’re the same shade as Andreas’, who has a natural sparkle, his twin’s is different.

It could also be the scar that runs down the center of Thiers’ face, starting just above his right eyebrow and ends beneath his left eye.

“An accident,”Kyle told me when talking about how his brother got the scar. The heaviness in his voice when he said it lets me know there’s a story there. One I won’t ask because I know it’ll come to light eventually.

I make eye contact with Kennedy. She gives me a thumbs-up as she’s the one who helped me pick out my reception dress.

She recently took on a new job as an investigative reporter at a major publication in Williamsport. Kyle says it’s part of his plan to have the family take the next step in building an even larger conglomerate. Kennedy tells him almost every time he brings that word up to go fuck himself.

I wave back at my sister-in-law when she blows a kiss our way.

“I don’t know if I like how much you two get along,” my husband says.

“Why?”

He frowns. “She’ll try to convince you to take off with her on one of her ventures, and I can’t go more than a night or two without you in my bed.”

“You can come with us.”

He snorts. “You can keep your ass at home.”

I roll my eyes. “I’m not going anywhere. Well, we are going to Europe for four weeks, but that’s for our honeymoon.” Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face. We’re doing two weeks in France and then another two weeks in Italy with Eve joining us for the second half of our trip.

She’s on summer break so the timing is perfect.

“I wondered where the hell he’d gone off to.”

I look over my shoulder to see Diego, Kyle’s best man, entering the ballroom.

A smile tips my lips. Kyle’s cousin dutifully holds out an elbow for his date to wrap her arm around. The woman at his side is beautiful. The pair exchange a look but quickly shutter their expressions as if they have something to hide.

“What’s up with that?” I wonder out loud.

“I’m not the only one who thinks those two look like they’re hiding something, huh?” Kyle asks.

“No.” Whether they admit it or not, there’s more than friendship between Diego Townsend and his best friend, Monique Richmond.
