“That makes sense,” Becca said. She looked down at the dress again. “This isn’t just a costume. This is actually a wedding dress. She must have gotten it at a secondhand shop or something.”

Beau nodded. “I put her in charge. With a few suggestions.”

Her heart warmed. He’d even had suggestions about the dress. God, she loved him.

He offered her his arm. “You ready?”

Becca linked her arm with his. “Absolutely. Let’s go party.”

When they pulled up in front of Ellie’s, Becca’s eyes went wide. “This place is packed. I mean, I figured they threw a pretty good Halloween party here, but wow.”

Beau nodded. “You know Autre doesn’t like anything better than a reason to all get together and get rowdy.”

“I can’t wait to see what everyone’s wearing,” Becca said.

Beau got out and rounded the truck, opening her door and then swinging her to the ground.

She laughed. “I feel like a princess.”

He leaned in and kissed her forehead. “Good. I plan to make you feel that way every day for the rest of your life.”

“Wow. That was a great line.”

He shook his head. “Not a line. I want you forever, you know that, right?”

She looked up at him, surprised by the seriousness in his tone and his expression. “I do know that.”

“We’ve always been totally honest with one another, right?” he asked.

“We have. It’s my favorite thing about us.”

“I love you, Becca. I want to be with you forever.”

“I love you too. And I want to be with you forever.”

“Starting tonight,” Beau said.

She nodded. “From here on.”

He took her hand, lacing their fingers together, and lifted her hand to his lips. Then they started for the door.

Beau pulled it open, allowing Becca to step inside ahead of him. It looked like they were some of the last to arrive. The room was packed.

And it looked like everyone was dressed in costumes that looked like they were going to a wedding.

It was the strangest Halloween party she’d ever been to.

The next moment she realized she wasn’t at a Halloween party.

She was at a wedding.

Her wedding.

She gasped. Then her eyes filled with tears.

She turned to Beau.

He just smiled and nodded.
