“Tonight?” she asked.

“I don’t need to wait,” he said. “I was stupid to think that I could. But I realize I don’t need to. I’m sure. About you. About us.”

“Me too,” she told him as the realization sunk in, and happiness bubbled up.

“So will you marry me? Tonight? Right now?”

“Hell yeah.”

They turned and faced the room full of friends, family, and community.

“Okay, Autre,” Beau said. “This is what you’ve been waiting for. Let’s have a wedding!”

The room erupted with applause and cheers and they were quickly surrounded by their friends and family and ushered to the front of the room, where an archway had been set up and covered with autumn flowers.

Savannah, Toby, and Daniel were dressed up and standing on her side of the aisle as attendants. Mitch, Zeke, and Zander stood on Beau’s side.

Their parents sat in the front row on one side together, smiling and teary-eyed.

Ellie and Leo were in the front row on the side opposite their parents.

And sure enough, Ellie Landry was clutching a gold alligator trophy in her lap as she watched Beau and Becca say their wedding vows. With a very smug smile on her face.
