“He better not,” Savannah said with a frown. “This is crazy. That guy has to have a raw hand from all the jerking off.”

“I don’t know. Maybe not.” Becca lifted a shoulder.

Savannah laughed. “You think he’snotgetting himself off?”

“Why would he? If he wants it, it’s right here!” Becca gestured at her groin with an open hand. And a voice that was definitely too loud judging by the people who turned to look.

“Yeah, and he takes good care of that when he’s around,” Savannah said, grabbing Becca’s hand and pressing it against her stomach.

“But not as good as hecould,” Becca said.

Savannah frowned. “Yeah. Okay. That’s fair.”

“And now he’s late. This is never going to happen.”

“Well…maybe you need to move on.” Savannah took a big sip from the glass Becca had just surrendered, watching her over the rim.

“What?”

“I’m just saying, maybe Beau’s given you all he can. Or all he’s willing to, anyway. You know a lot more now than you did before. He’s taught you a lot. He’s given you more confidence for sure. Maybe you need to find someone else tocomplete the mission.”

Becca’s eyes widened. “But…we’redating.”

“I’m not sayingcheaton him. Break up with him first.”

“What? But…I love him.”

Savannah shrugged. “I know. But honey, he’s not taking care of you. And you deserve to have a guy who will give youeverythingyou need. Find someone else to fuck and fall in love with.”

The fuck, thenfall in love was the order Savannah preferred. And sometimes she did the first without doing the second at all. Savannah loved sex. She hadn’t been a virgin when they’d come to college. She had a lot more laid-back attitude about relationships in general and sex in particular than Becca did.

But she had a really good time and was very happy with her life.

Becca swallowed. This wasBeau. They’d been friends forever. She knew him so well. He knewherso well. And now they knew each other even better. The things they’d done weresointimate, even though they hadn’t had sex. She almost couldn’t imagine being with another guy in that way. Being completely naked, letting someone see, touch, tasteher body the way Beau had made her also feel so vulnerable. She couldn’t imagine another man’s tongue in some of those places.

“Tell him it’s not working. Tell him to fuck or get out of the bed.” Savannah drank again.

Becca narrowed her eyes. “How much have you had to drink?”

“A bit,” Savannah admitted.

Okay, so she needed to take this advice with a grain of salt. “I just need to tell him how much I want it. That I’m ready. That it has to betonight. No more excuses.”

“Youhavetold him that.”

“And I’ve fallen for theI’ve never been in love before, Becca. Let me do this the right waystuff he always gives me.” She smiled and felt warmer just thinking about that. “And he said he’s never been with a virgin. He’s admitted that he’s a little worried about making my first time good.”

Savannah rolled her eyes. “He fucking worships you. It’s so annoying.”

Becca grinned. “Being the center of Beau Hebert’s attention is pretty intense,” she said. “And awesome.”

Okay, so she wasn’t getting laid. But she was adored. He texted and called. He randomly sent her flowers and pizza. He drove five hours one way to go to college basketball games and parties with her when she knew he hated them.

They were living totally different lives. He was running his business in their hometown, hanging out with other people who worked real jobs and paid bills and had responsibilities other than studying for exams and…yeah, that was about the extent of her trueresponsibilities.

And then, when he had free time, he came to Baton Rouge to see her.

And, clearly, he thought about her a lot even in the midst of his day. She knew he was busy. He was the best woodworker and custom furniture maker in southern Louisiana. In her opinion, he was the best in the state, but the internet said southern Louisiana. For now anyway.
