I moaned in response, feeling more and more eager to have him inside of me. He moved two fingers in and out of me, my wetness encouraging him on. I kept his mouth and tongue busy as I was slowly being driven to the edge. I gasped as I shuddered inside. When I looked into Bryce's eyes, he looked at me with an intensity that made all the butterflies in my stomach flit around in formation.

He took his fingers out and pulled up my panties.

“We should head back to the party. My mom is probably looking for us,” he said a few minutes later, getting up from the bed. I didn’t want to leave. I wished we could spend the night in his room just in each other’s company, but we both had obligations at the benefit.

“Yeah, we should head back,” I agreed, slowly rolling myself off the bed. Bryce stopped me as we were about to exit the door.

“I was thinking about just spending the night here. Stay with me,” he suggested. I wasn’t sure how to feel about spending the night in his parents’ house, but it looked like a big enough space where we could successfully avoid them.

“I would like to explore the space in which you grew up,” I admitted to him.

“I’ll show you everything that you want, including my embarrassing childhood photos.” I burst out in laughter.

“I would love to see how dorky you were,” I teased him. Bryce pulled me into another kiss, and I knew another magical night awaited me.

“By the way. My dad still hasn’t met you and he was hoping to meet you tonight.” Given that my first meeting with his mom wasn't the best experience, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to meeting his dad.

We left the room and stepped into the darkened hallway. The din from the party got louder as we approached the staircase.

"My dad likes to sit in his sitting room during parties. Sometimes the noise just gets too much for him. Let's check there first."

Bryce took my hand and led me to the sitting room, where his dad was indeed sitting in an armchair. The warm light of the lamps gave a friendly feel to the room. He was visiting with some other gentlemen who were all deep in discussion about something. When we walked in, the discussion ended and all eyes were on us.

I was nervous as Bryce introduced us, but the warm smile on his dad's face put me at ease. His dad's friends turned away to give us some privacy.

“It’s nice to finally meet you, Reyna,” he said with genuine kindness. It seemed Mr. Taylor was more on the calm and collected side. Despite his tuxedo and luxurious scarf around his neck, I could just as easily see him sitting in that armchair in a cozy vest and corduroy pants.

I couldn’t help but smile back.

“It is an honor to finally meet you, sir. Thank you for having me here tonight."

“Please, call me Charles. There’s no 'sir' here. Bryce has told us about your relationship... and, while it may be unconventional, we want him to be happy no matter what decisions he makes. If this makes him happy and his business thrives, then it will make us happy, too.”

I felt relieved by his kind words. We chatted with Charles and his friends until late into the night, only taking one break to make the rounds downstairs at the gala. When we came back to the sitting room, it was truly a place we could relax.

That night changed things forever. From then onward, I knew his parents would welcome me as part of their family. Meeting them really opened my eyes and gave proof beyond doubt that love transcends all boundaries or labels imposed upon relationships, whether conventional or otherwise.

But… we weren’t in a real relationship and all of this wasn’t something I should’ve been getting used to. It saddened me that I would eventually have to say goodbye.

But sadder yet was the fact that I knew, as of that night, that I loved Bryce.

Chapter 20

Bryce

Iletbothmyparents know that Reyna and I would be spending the night at the house. After all, it didn't make sense to leave when the festivities ran so late.

Throughout the night, I had a few heart-stopping moments. Ones where my eyes would meet Reyna's and it seemed like there was a deep connection. One that I couldn't explain. We had to continually pull ourselves back to the conversations at hand when all I really wanted to do was rip her dress off and continue where we had left off earlier.

We did our rounds, satisfying my mother's expectations and enjoying my dad and his friends in the sitting room. Reyna fit in so naturally, even leaving my side to have her own conversations with these old men. Many of them I had known since I was a young boy, and as they left, many of them whispered that I had found "the one" as they playfully hit me in the shoulder.

But after a few hours, we were exhausted and as the party wound down, we took our leave.

Funny how when we got to my room that we suddenly got another round of energy. Let's just say we fooled around like teenagers well into the deepest part of the night. Reyna brought out my inner child in a way no woman had ever done. When I was with her, I didn’t have to be anyone else except myself, and I loved that about her.

Yes, I loved Reyna. I knew for sure that I had been falling for her each new day. But waking up together at my parents' house seemed to be the icing on the cake and the confirmation in my mind.

The late morning light was streaming into my room. We were slowly rousing, reluctant to leave the warm bed with luxurious sheets that seemed to hug our naked bodies and pull us deeper into the bed.
