“Hey you,” I whispered into her hair.

“God, I missed you,” she sniffed.

“I wrote about you in my memory book before my operation. You are my best friend and I love you more than sushi and cocktails.”

She stepped back from me, wiping her tears. “That’s true. But what is a memory book?”

“I’ll show you when we’re on the bus,” I promised her.

“Speaking of buses, why did you get a separate one, Le?” Fox asked, staring at her like she was the only person in the room.

She tilted her head, flicking her long dark hair over her shoulder. “Because Nee needs space while she gets her head around the crazy life you boys live and I need to stay away from you, Fox, so you don’t try to get me to marry you or something utterly as ridiculous.” Despite her words, the air crackled between them, making Charlie laugh.

“Shut up, Charlie, you’re just jealous that I won’t sleep with you anymore.” Lea flipped her middle finger up in his face.

“You wish. I’ve told you; my sharing days are done.”

My mouth dropped open. “Theysharedyou?”

“Oh, Nee, we havesomuch to catch up on. Where’s Archer?”

“On the phone to his sisters. He won’t be long.”

“Are my ears burning?” he asked, appearing as if the mention of his name had summoned him. I couldn’t help licking my lips, remembering what it felt like to kiss him, as I took in his mussed hair and stubbled covered jaw while his slate eyes fixed on me.

“We’re going to get on our bus. We will see you boys later,” Lea announced, winking at Fox, who shoved his hands into his pockets, looking at her through his long, fair lashes.

I hadn’t noticed Archer closing in behind me until his hand wrapped in mine, his mouth ghosting my ear. “Are you really going to stay on another bus? I mean, I get sleeping on it, but come, travel with us, at least.”

“I want to catch up with Lea. Plus, some space would be good.” Archer’s face crumbled. “I want to make sure that I don’t rush into something because my body craves you so much.” Squeezing his hand, I leaned in. “I like being around you, Arch. You feel like home. I just want to make sure I’m not getting caught up in that. I need to think with my head for a while. Is that okay?”

He pressed the lightest kiss to a spot behind my ear that made my knees go weak. “Anything you need. I will be texting you though. Just so you know.”

“Thank you for being so understanding.”

Just then, a man walked into the room, clapping his hands dramatically. “Right people, we need to hit the road, so we get to Tampa by tonight because we have a busy few days. Lea, nice to see you again. It’s been a while.” If I knew these people better, I’d swear his eyes darkened as Fox blushed and Lea’s face lit up… but maybe I was reading too much into it.

Archer pressed his hand to my lower back. “Nee, this is Dawson. He’s our manager.”

“Hi, sorry if we’ve met before.”

“Don’t worry, Arch explained it all. We’re just happy you’re okay and you’re coming with us. Both of you.” His eyes met with Lea’s and then with Fox’s and a smile passed between the three of them that made me feel like I was watching something I shouldn’t. A private moment where they spoke silently with their glances and half smiles.

“Talk soon,” I whispered to Archer before pulling Lea from the room to the elevator.

“Girls?” Dawson shouted, making us look back over our shoulders. “Your cases are on the bus. Any problems, call one of us and Marshall is coming on the bus with you. Don’t worry, he will stay out of your way, but do not leave the bus without him.”

Marshall appeared from the shadows, his All-American blond haired, blue eyed look even more evident in the daylight.

“Ready for us, Marshall?” she questioned.

“Yes, ma’am.”
