Archer lifted his head, running his fingers down the side of my face like he wasn’t sure I was real. “The sun’s coming up.”

“Is that hot chocolate or coffee in the flask?”

“Coffee.”

“You wanna have breakfast with me while we watch the sun come up?”

Archer beamed. “I’d love to.”

“This really was the best night of my life, Arch.”

He winked, handing me a croissant before he poured the coffee and we watched the sky turn from pink to blue, wrapped around each other like we never wanted tonight to end.

Chapter 34

Archer

Nee:Ihadthebest night.

Me: It’s 7 am. Get some sleep. We’re back on the bus in a few hours.

Nee: When’s our next date?

Me: I think the next one is on you. I’ll wait for your invite.

Nee: I like the sound of that.

I fell asleep with the taste of her mouth still on my lips and her words echoing through my head, my heart spilling over with hope that I was getting my girl back. I woke later to the sound of my phone beeping with an incoming message.

Nee: Can’t sleep. I can’t stop thinking about you. Did you hypnotize me to be obsessed with you or something?

Me: I was sleeping fine. Some weirdo keeps texting me and waking me up.

Nee: Sorry.

Me: My door is unlocked if you want to come in for a cuddle.

Minutes later, I heard my door open and footsteps padding across the floor. I kept my eyes closed as she peeled back the cover, curling in behind me, her arm circling my chest.

“I really like you, Archer Miller,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to my shoulder. And I fell asleep with a smile on my lips that I couldn’t hide.

“The press is having a field day with you and Ionee. Maybe you should make a statement.” Dawson cornered me as we were heading back onto the tour buses, handing me a giant take away cup of coffee.

“There’s nothing to say… not yet.”

“In my experience, it’s better to be in front of these things, otherwise you’ll find them chasing you for a story and none of you want that.”

“No, but I also don’t want to talk about my relationship when it’s so new.”

“But you were together for over a year before.”

“And then we weren’t and my fiancée had brain surgery and lost all her memories. This isn’t just a case of announcing we’re back together. Which, for the record, we’re not. Not officially.”

“Sorry. I’m just trying to save you from a lot of media attention.”

I raised my coffee in a silentcheers.“And I appreciate it, but there’s nothing to tell. We went out on a date.”

“Which is front page news.”
