“They took snaps of us leaving the aquarium and getting on a boat. It could have been a lot worse.”

Dawson cocked his eyebrow. “Really?”

“Really. By the way, you might wanna think about your little fling with Fox making front page news, too.”

His eyes widened, his mouth falling open. “What? We’re not… it was just the once. How did you know?”

“I didn’t until right now, but there is some serious sexual tension bouncing around this place recently.”

“Get on the bus, Archer.”

“Stay out of my relationship. It has nothing to do with the band.”

“Everything you do has to do with the band. It’s the joys of being in the public eye, but I will try harder to protect what you have with Ionee if you’re serious about her.”

“I’m going to marry that girl. That’s never changed.”

“When we have some time off, can we go to Disneyland?” Charlie begged like an excited toddler. “I mean, we’re literally driving past the place. I wanna go.”

“Yes, Charlie. We can go to Disneyland. We can hire a house and spend a couple of weeks in the parks. Sound good?” Fox placated him.

“Yes!”

“I’ve been writing,” I interrupted.

“Songs?” Fox asked.

“No, my autobiography. Of course songs.”

“You should write a book. You’ve got a lot of story to tell,” Charlie piped up.

“Oh, fuck off, Charlie. Your good mood recently is freaking us all out. What the hell is going on with you?”

He shrugged. “Fern and I—”

“You’re sleeping with Fern. Head of Communications for the label and could get us sacked if you piss her off, Fern?”

“A little bit.”

“You’re sleeping with her a little bit? What, you only stuck the tip in? What the fuck, Charlie?” Fox barked. “I thought we told each other everything.”

“Says the man that’s sleeping with at least two people on this tour and not telling us about it,” Charlie fired back.

Fox opened his mouth to speak, but I stepped in. “Hey, enough. We’re all allowed some privacy, but secrets will break us. We need to remember that.”

“Well, I’ve told you mine.” Charlie shrugged, rolling his eyes.

“And mine’s too complicated to explain right now, but when I work it out, I promise to tell you both,” Fox admitted.

“Good. Right, so instead of talking about that, do you wanna see what I’ve been writing?”

Ionee

Thebandhadspentthree days in the studio in New Orleans recording some new tracks and then had headed to the venue to sound check for tonight's gig. I’d hardly seen Archer; late nights writing and laying down their new music and early mornings with press interviews and photoshoots. We’d caught up when he could, but I’d been glad Lea was here or else I would have spent a lot of time on my own.

Missing Arch more than I wanted to admit, I typed out a message.

Me: What time will Arch be done with the sound check?
