Dawson: He’s done. The other boys are back at the hotel. He wanted to stay for a while.

I stared at Dawson’s reply, trying not to feel hurt that he wasn’t here with me.

Me: Can I go visit him?

Dawson: Course. Take Marshall. Where’s Lea?

Me: In her room, I think.

Dawson: Tell her not to go anywhere on her own.

Marshall and I had the driver drop us off at the band entrance at the back of the venue, and he led me to the side of the stage. I heard Archer on the piano before I saw him, his fingers expertly playing.

“You’re so good. I wish I could play. You fancy teaching me, Archer?”

My brows pinched as I tried to work out who he was talking to. Making sure I stayed in the shadows, suddenly feeling like I shouldn’t be witnessing whatever was going on the stage. I found Archer sitting next to a dark haired woman I knew was in their support act… River-rolls or Rollerskate Rockers. No, Riverstone Rollers.

She was stunning. Dressed in a short leather skirt and matching skin tight bra top that showed off her tattooed body, she was pressed up next to Archer on the small seat.

“Not sure I’d make a good teacher,” he laughed.

She nudged his side with her elbow. “I don’t know. The things you’ve taught me over the last few months, I’d say you were an excellent teacher.”

I froze.

Archer twisted his head, winking at her before turning his attention back to the piano.

“How is it having her back?”

His fingers paused.

“Better than I could have imagined.”

“And the big gaping hole in her brain… the one where she doesn’t remember you…”

The bitch!

“Doesn’t change a thing,” Archer replied without a pause.

Not wanting to watch another minute of their exchange, I walked onto the stage, Archer’s eyes lifting, his smile spreading as he saw me.

“Hey, stranger,” he called out.

“Hey, you. I was feeling all lonely and wondered if you had time for a coffee, so we can plan our next date?”

“Lonely, hey? We can’t have that.” He turned to the dark haired bitch I now seriously disliked. “Can you give us some space?”

She smiled sweetly at Archer, but I didn’t miss the glare of anger in her eyes as her gaze landed on me. “Sure. See you tonight,” she said as she stood, leaving us alone.

Archer beckoned me with his finger, turning on the seat, and spreading his legs so I could step between them. His hands grabbed my hips as he looked up at me.

“Sorry, I’ve been neglecting you. Things have been crazy.”

“I’ve missed you,” I admitted.

“You have?” Lowering his forehead to my stomach, Archer let out a long breath, sounding exhausted. I raked my fingers through his hair, loving the moan that fell from his lips as his grip on my waist tightened. “God, I love you touching me.”

“Well, I could have been touching you a lot more. You were the one who took me on a date, did unmentionable things with me on a beach, and then ghosted me for three days.”
