Two hours later, Theo was rocking the room with an amazing set, I’d talked the chef down from his threats to quit when one of the ovens started playing up, I’d had the bars rearranged so we had one totally dry one for Tanner, Frankie and anyone else not drinking and my exhausted waiting and bar staff were perked up when I slipped them a rather large tip on top of their double pay, along with the promise that they could get some signed merch from the Gods and Alchemy Myth.

Walking around the dance floor, I made small talk with the guests and checked food was circulating to soak up the alcohol that was also in full flow. Suddenly, someone grabbed my hips from behind, spinning me around.

Frankie.

“Girl, you look stunning.” I glanced down at the pink dress I’d forgotten I was even wearing. The theme of tonight was Hollywood glam and my spaghetti strapped, thigh length pink dress was covered in fringes of sequins and feathers adorned the bottom. I absolutely loved it.

“So do you,” I cried over the music as she did a shimmy in her red floor length gown.

“Where’s Matt?” I asked because her protective husband was never far away. She twitched her head, and I spotted him standing against the wall, his eyes fixed on her.

“Where’s your three?”

“Doghouse.”

“Oh?”

I popped my eyebrow. Then I wondered where they all were. I’d not seen anyone other than Fox on stage since I threw them out of the venue earlier, and although I hated to admit it, I missed them.

“That would explain it, though,” she continued.

“Explain what?”

“Why they look like someone died. What did they do?”

“They were selfish assholes. They turned up earlier trying to make up with me and made a massive scene. I had Matt throw them out.” I narrowed my gaze. “But you knew that, didn’t you?”

Her nose scrunched up. “Maybe.”

I let out a long breath, exhaustion hitting me hard.

“Look, I just came to tell you that you look amazing and tonight has been perfect, so thank you, but also, I wanted to make sure you’re staying in the God's building. That space is yours now, and it wouldn’t be the same if you left me with all these boys.”

“I haven’t thought much past tonight.” And I hadn’t. I had other corporate jobs booked in, but all my focus had been on this event. “I do love that office, though.”

“Yay, I’ll tell Addi you’re staying.”

“I’m paying rent, though.”

She pulled me in for a hug. “Argue with Addi about that. Right, I’m going to make Bear dance. Go, have a glass of something fizzy and enjoy the party you’ve organized because people will be talking about tonight for a long time.”

“Thanks, Frankie.”

She and Matt vanished into the crowd as I chuckled to myself at the thought of Matt throwing his moves on the dancefloor.

Fox

“Yougood?”Dawappearednext to me.

“What do you care?”

“I care.”

I took a sip of my beer as I leaned back against the bar and watched Lea on the dancefloor. She looked like a movie star and I couldn’t stop staring. “’Cause you’re a stalker.”

“Because you’re in the band I manage.”

I side eyed him. “You fuck all your band members.”
