We both grunted a yes, and Dawson left. Exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed, I closed my eyes and let my head sink back against the wall. “Do you think this was the curse?” I asked at the same time as Marshall spoke.

“He never meant to deceive you.”

I flicked one eye open. “What?”

“Dawson. He never meant to lie. He’s been wanting to own up about your past since I’ve known him.”

I pushed my fingers through my hair, anger bubbling up in a way I didn’t like. “He told you about us?”

“No. I heard him on the phone to Addi. He didn’t seek you out. He’s not stalking you. He was offered a job, he took it. You didn’t remember him and he didn’t remind you. That’s not a crime, Fox.”

I tutted. “But he slept with me again, knowing I didn’t remember him.”

“He slept with you again because he liked you. I would say your crime was worse. You thought so little of a person you had sex with that you couldn’t even remember him.”

I reared back. Was that worse?I’d been so mad about the thought of him tricking me or stalking me that I’d not thought about how he must have felt when I didn’t remember him. Even now, I had no recollection of him that night. All I remembered was a pile of faceless bodies.Fuck, what sort of monster did that make me?

“You’re doing a whole lot of fixing today, Marshall.”

“When you find out what I did, you won’t think I fix things. None of you are going to want me here.”

I stood and moved to sit in the seat next to him, pressing my hand to his thigh. “Don’t bet on that.”

Lea

Thelightburnedthroughmy eyelids and every breath I took hurt.

“Lea?”

Nee?

“Hey, I’m right here. You’re safe. Everything’s okay.”

I tried to remember what the hell had happened, but I didn’t have to because she continued speaking. “Marshall, Fox and Dawson are here too. You were in an accident.”

Then it hit me. “I was coming back. I wanted to say sorry.” Every word scratched my throat, my chest burning.

“And we were coming for you, Sugar.”

“Yeah, Sunshine, get better for us and we can all go home and sort this out.”

“Just the curse,” I muttered before I had to hear Marshall say it. Then I felt lips ghost my ear.

“Curse or not, Sugar, I want my omega back so we can cement that pack bond and spend a lifetime worshiping you.”

I tried to laugh, but it hurt so much it brought tears to my eyes.

“Hey, you.”

“Fox?” I whispered.

“Not going anywhere, Le. When will you realize that?”

“Your email…”

“I was a dick. I’m so sorry.”

“Tired. Stay. All of you?”
