“Thanks, but I’m really not interested.” He stared dead ahead, and I wondered if he remembered how much he cried out when Fox licked his cock or I stroked the underside of his balls, or how he covered himself in Fox’s cum. Something was going on with him and I was going to find out what. If he knew my secrets, I wanted his.

I was leaning against a wall in the venue we’d hired, watching Lea at work, talking the decorators and catering staff through her ideas. Hair tied up, glasses on, notebook and pen in hand, she commanded the room. Fox sat in the corner, deep in conversation on the phone, his fingers drumming a tune out on the floor that made me laugh because that man really did live music; it punctuated every element of his life, even when he wasn’t on stage.

“Here.” I looked over to see Marshall standing next to me dressed in a white t-shirt, black ripped jeans, and a black baseball cap on backward. He held out a large take away coffee cup and a protein bar.

I frowned.

“Chamomile tea. You drink too much coffee and while you fed Fox and Lea earlier, I bet you’ve not eaten yet.”

My spine straightened. “I don’t need taking care of, Marshall. That’s my literal job.”

He leaned closer, pushing them into my hands. “It doesn’t mean you can’t let people take care of you too, Dawson.”

“Thanks,” I mumbled, sipping the tea, hoping he didn’t hear how much my stomach rumbled because he was right; I’d forgotten to eat.

“You deserve to have someone look after you,” he mumbled so quietly I barely heard him. He coughed, obviously embarrassed by his words. “As a friend, I mean.” But when he glanced over at me, I swore it wasn’t friendship I saw burning in his eyes, but I had no idea if I was reading him correctly. “Now, I want to see you eat that before you pass out.”

“Bossy fucker.”

He scoffed. “You have no idea.”

Marshall

“I’msohot,”Leacomplained as we stepped out into the late afternoon sun, leaving the caterers and decorators to finish the venue for tonight. “I need a swim.”

“I don’t have a pool, although you can use the one at the hotel, but I do have something to cool you down.” Dawson wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, making her laugh.

He took her hand in his. Smiling down at where they connected. “Come on, we’re going for Snoballs.”

“You mentioned them earlier and I still don’t know what they are,” she replied as we climbed into the car.

“Snoballs are a local specialty. Flavored shaved ice,” I told her.

Lea looked at me like I’d lost my mind. “So a Slushy?”

“Hush your mouth, Sugar.” The driver closed the electric doors and pulled off into traffic. “You pour hot water on bags of dried leaves, add milk and call it a drink. Snoball’s are an institution and your flavor choice says a lot about you. Where are we going for them?”

“It’s not far.”

About fifteen minutes later, we pulled up outside a row of restaurants and bars. Dawson stepped out of the car before I could get out. I glared at him as I helped Lea out and then Fox, before taking off my cap and placing it on his head. “Shit disguise, but it might help,” I remarked.

“See, Daw,” Fox laughed as if they’d had this conversation before.

I opened the door and glanced inside, grateful that it seemed quiet.

“We’re just about to close,” the young woman behind the counter shouted as we all stepped in. Fox took off the cap and offered her an award winning Alchemy Myth smile.

“Oh. My. God. Are you Fox Garrison? The Fox Garrison? Is Archer and Charlie with you? My friends are going to die. Come in. What can I get y’all?”

“It’s a disguise for a reason,” I mumbled, moving closer to him as the woman stared like all her Christmases and birthdays had come at once.

Dawson clapped his hands together, staring up at the menu, before letting out a loud gasp. “Woah, that’s a whole lot of flavors.”

“We have the most in the city,” she replied.

“Erm, what would you recommend?” Lea asked as she read through the options.

I looked between them. “Let me. I bet I can pick the perfect one for each of you. Go take a seat.”
