“What about Lily?” Emma asked again.

Aidan ran a hand down his face.

“You know what? Why don’t we cut the cake and do all the speeches?” Aidan said, trying to step around them.

Emma moved into his path.

“Aidan. Did you sleep with my best friend?” she asked incredulously. “When we told you to stay away from her.”

Well.

Yes.

“She’s a grown woman, Emma. Lily can make her own decisions,” he said, ignoring the dark look Aidan sent him.

“No. I don’t think she is.” Emma shoved her glass into Logan’s hands as he tried to stop her. The next minute her hands were on her hips, and she was taking steps toward him. “You Dufort men do not know how...”

“Handsome?”

“Intoxicating you can be.”

“Intoxicating?” Aidan asked, his brows raised and a smile forming.

“Dominant. Pushy. Impossible to say no to.”

“Well, that’s not true. Women have said no to Logan before.” Aidan smirked.

“When?” Logan frowned.

Emma turned and glared at him.

“Sorry, but honestly, never happened.” Logan shrugged.

Aidan giggled silently, then shut it down when Emma turned back and glared.

“Listen, Em. Lily was...”

“Innocent,” Emma replied firmly.

Hardly.

She might’ve been quietly inexperienced, but she sure knew what to do with her mouth. Really damn well. And she took direction like a pro.

So not innocent in the least.

“I mean, not completely.” Aidan squinted.

“Gross. I didn’t mean like that. I meant she’s an innocent kind of person. Kind. Not worldly like other women you would normally date.”

He didn’t date.

Occasionally he’d have someone accompany him to events. Or take someone to dinner because he wanted to fuck them. But he didn’t date with the intention of having a relationship.

He just never considered it.

Until now.

“I think you underestimate Lily,” Aidan said, sliding his hands into his pockets. “She’s smarter than you think.”
