“No, because I realized our love is so much more important than social standing and money and worrying about what anyone thinks of where I came from. We created a life, Aidan. A baby. A BABY!”
“Yeah, I got that bit. Holy fuck.” He grinned.
She nodded but grinned back at him with eyes sparkling full of happy tears.
Had she been this beautiful before? Because he was sure that in two days she had become at least ten times more so.
Or maybe this was love.
“We’re going to be parents,” Aidan said as Lily nodded, not moving her eyes an inch off his.”
“I don’t expect—”
“Never finish that sentence, Lily Peterson. Never ever think it or say it,” Aidan said firmly. “I love you. We are doing this. You, me, and this kid.”
He caught the tear as it slid down her face.
“Say it again, Lily.”
“I love you.”
“She loves me!” he cried, throwing his arms in the air.
“Aidan, this is a graveyard.” Lily giggled and turned around. They saw her mom and aunt hugging one another, watching them.
Aidan was sure he spotted a smile.
He knew he should curtail his happiness. He really did, but the woman he loved, loved him back.
Finally.
And he’d promised her father he would love his daughter forever.
Aidan kissed her gently but with force. “I swear if we weren’t standing near your father’s grave, I would get on my knees and ask you to marry me right fucking now.”
“Do it,” she said, shocking him.
His eyes widened. “No. Lily.”
“If you want to propose to me, then do it. Here. With my dad present,” Lily insisted. “He’s at peace now, and why not make this day something beautiful to remember?”
Was she insane?
“Jesus. Are you sure?” he asked, glancing around and rubbing his face.
“Aidan Dufort, if I only get to boss you around once in my life, then I’m telling you, get down on your damn knees and ask me to marry you.”
He forced back his snigger.
This woman was full of surprises, and he knew there was a lifetime more of them to come.
His lips stretched into a huge smile, and he cupped her face. “Peaches, consider that your one pass.”
Lily might be submissive, but Aidan was seeing a new side to her. She was going to be an incredible mom. One that would protect her cubs, and damn that was incredibly sexy.
Aidan expected her to challenge him through their life and he would enjoy bringing her to her knees.
Right now, though, it was his turn.
