“The entire women’s baseball team, the last time I counted,” Jacob said, nudging him with his club. Then he slid it into the bag and did the inverted commas thing with his fingers and said, “dating.”

Aidan rubbed his hand over his mouth, loving that the attention was off him for a minute.

“Jesus, are all the men in this family playboys?” Andrew shook his head.

Jacob grinned.

“Lighten up, Dad. The boys are young. Hell, I’m still young,” Aidan said.

“Debatable,” Blake coughed.

Cue the play fighting as he kicked out his leg and caught him around the thighs.

Blake’s knees weakened, and he stumbled. “Hey!”

“Christ. I’m off to find your brother,” Andrew said as Blake hooked his arm around Aidan’s neck. “Hopefully, they’re playing a better game of golf than you fools.”

They all laughed.

“Oh, and Aidan, remember what I said back in Philadelphia.”

About Lily and keeping away from her.

Oops too late.

Aidan deadpanned his father while he returned his stare. Then he walked over to his cart and zoomed off across the green.

“What’s his deal?” Jacob asked.

“It’s probably just wedding fever,” Blake said. “Mom gets like this whenever someone gets married or has a baby. Starts interrogating us about our love lives.”

“It better be a phase. He’s been riding my ass for months,” Aidan said. “I have zero interest in walking down any aisle. Someone even does my grocery shopping.”

Jacob laughed. “Go take your shot, dork.”

Blake slapped his hand under his brother’s water bottle, causing it to spurt everywhere.

“Hey,” Jacob cried, wiping his face.

This was more like it, Aidan thought, as a stupid grin spread across his face. Life was serious enough. There had to be play and fun, or what was the point?

His mind wandered, and he hoped Lily was enjoying her day out. He’d worked her body hard last night and, along with her hangover, he knew the SUP yoga would be a struggle.

Aidan had left her a note with his mobile number and instructions to sext him.

She wouldn’t, but he liked knowing it would have rattled her.

If she thought he was going to leave her alone now, she was mistaken. That was just the first course.
