CHAPTER NINE
“I’m pretty sure I’mgoing to put my back out doing this,” Harper said, running her hand over her chin and staring at their instructor. “I’m an author. The only core strength I have are my steamy sex scenes.”
Emma burst out laughing. “Me too, girlfriend. Me too.”
“Why didn’t Amelia join us?” Lily dropped her sundress onto her beach bag and felt like a glow stick standing in her bright pink bikini. She hadn’t seen the sun in months, and it showed.
Beep, beep.
Lily frowned as she saw Matt’s name show up on the phone. She’d expected he would leave her alone while on holiday, but clearly, she was wrong.
Lily quickly answered his question, knowing he could have gotten the answer about the file location from the receptionist, and dropped her phone into her bag. Then she followed the girls down to the water’s edge.
“Amelia’s meeting a friend who has flown in. She was a little vague. I think it’s a guy. For God’s sakes, don’t mention it around her brothers,” Emma said.
Lily let out a little laugh. “They are rather protective.”
“It’s a Dufort trait,” Harper said.
“Everyone gets into everyone’s business in this family.” Kristen nudged Harper. “Including this one.”
Harper shrugged. “It’s because I care.”
Emma burst out laughing, then she pointed at Lily. “Hey, you need lotion. No strap marks on Monday.”
She was referring to the wedding.
“Oh, let me take off the straps,” Lily said, reaching to tug them off.
Emma helped, and they handed them to the SUP assistant, who ran up the beach and threw them on their bags and towels.
None of them were worried about security, as Harper’s personal security guy was with them. Lily couldn’t imagine living like that, but then again, she didn’t have to worry about anyone trying to kidnap her or rip an enormous diamond ring off her hand.
Why they didn’t leave them at home? She had no idea. Unless their husbands wanted them to wear them.
Yeah, that was probably it.
She could see Aidan being like that with his wife one day. He was pretty bossy.
Even if it was sexy.
She tugged up her bikini even though it was snug and took another look at the board.
Emma bumped her hips. “Ready? I’ve been wanting to try this for ages.”
Lily didn’t feel quite the same. In fact, she would’ve happily stayed in bed for a few more hours.
