“No more media chicks. And make sure you’re home and sober for the wedding.”

“Someone told me you were fun,” Blake teased and ducked when Daniel threw a fake jab at him.

“They lied.”

Aidan let out a laugh. His mood was lightening up already. A few more shots and things would feel a lot better. He wasn’t a big drinker, but his emotions were feeling all over the place.

“Give me ten or fifteen minutes to speak with Lily,” Aidan said. “Book an Uber and I’ll see you out front.”

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Lily walked into herroom and shut the door. She leaned against the back of it and the tear that had been threatening to spill fell down her cheek.

She wiped it away angrily.

Stupid tears.

She wasn’t sad. What she was, was mad. How dare that man speak to her like that?

Lily already felt like a fraud being in Hawaii with the Dufort family. For Aidan’s father to call her out like that in front of everyone was embarrassing.

Worse, Aidan just stood there and said nothing.

Because he agreed.

All the talk about seeing her again, and he saw her as nothing more than some poor girl from the South Side.

Well, fuck him.

Lily wished she were more like Harper or Emma. Or any one of the women in the house right now. They would have had some clever come back or called Andrew out for his rudeness.

She’d never been like that.

It was why she let Matt get away with the things he did. She didn’t like confrontation. It was better to just stay quiet, keep the peace, and walk away.

Because it never ended there.
