Aidan gave her an odd look, then stepped inside and closed the door. “Are you okay?”
“No. But I will be,” she replied. And that was all he needed to know.
When he stepped forward to touch her, she stepped back.
“You have one minute, Aidan. Then you need to leave. I have to call my dad and then get some sleep,” Lily said.
When her phone beeped, Aidan’s eyes drifted over to the bed where it lay.
“I think we both know that isn’t your father.”
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Aidan’s patience waswearing thin.
Which was ironic, given he had no right to be possessive of the woman standing in front of him. Yet fucking Handsy Matt and his constant messaging were pushing him right to the edge.
But he had to focus.
He was here to apologize for his father’s abhorrent behavior and make sure Lily was okay.
Which she clearly wasn’t.
“If my boss wants to message me while I’m on vacation, that’s none of your business,” Lily said, crossing her arms.
A physical barrier.
In other words, she didn’t want him touching her.
Aidan didn’t blame her after what Andrew had said. But not touching her wasn’t fucking happening.
He tugged her arms apart and growled softly, “Lily.”
Her barriers began to crumble.
“You said nothing,” she cried. “Nothing, Aidan.”
